Regret is the worst feeling. The worst feeling is not knowing. Rejection is hurtful but it's like a physical wound, it heals with time. Regret, does not. I agree, that sometimes the girl who broke your heart, you just say, I wish I never met the cuvnt. But just think of it this way, at least you had someone. There are forty year old men who have been with nothing but hookers out there. REGRET is far worse than REJECTION.

"Father?"

"Yes son?"

"What does 'regret' mean?"

"Well, son, the funny thing about regret is, it's better to regret something you have done, than regret something you haven't done. And by the way, when you see your mother this weekend, be sure and tell her,..SATAN SATAN SATAN!"

Well I can't agree with anyone here. I have regretted the things I have done, but I do not regret any of the things I haven't done.

Didn't ask the girl out? Don't care.

Didn't take that job? Don't care.

Didn't go on that vacation? Don't care.

If any of it had really been that important to me I would have found a way to do it. I didn't do those things because obviously I didn't want them bad enough.

When I'm lying on my death bed I know I'll regret the things I have done far more than anything I didn't do. In fact, I'll probably have forgotten about the things I didn't do.

Again, CONTEXT, people!

What you described is not regret at all. Those are just things you come across in your life that you didn't really care about either way.

Pook's "Rejection is better than regret" refers to a young man who badly wants to ask a woman out but because he's crippled by the fear of rejection, he did not. The regret was painful and made his blood boil with anger towards himself, far worse than the rejection he had once he listened to Pook and actually made a move.

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

Regret surrenders the frame, rejection slaps us with it :)
