Dwelling on the past (as well as worry) is a superstition. We have an innate feeling that we "should" mentally turn over past events in our minds or else we are not doing due diligence and we might pay a punishment for letting these things go.

The past is dead. The only thing that matters is today (with an eye toward the future). Don't let circumstances generate your emotions. Instead, use ACTION to generate your emotions.

Happiness is being on a track that you've defined for yourself. Several different tracks, actually, such as work life, spiritual life, social life, hobbies, etc. Happiness is not solely the final attainment of a goal. It is rather being on the journey toward that goal, knowing that the journey is changing you into a better man. Ultimate happiness is the certainty that the mechanical process you have carved out for yourself will reap daily rewards above and beyond the final attainment of the goal.

Social anxiety? Happiness is avoiding dwelling on that and instead deciding to engage in small-talk once a day with a stranger. A mechanical process that will effect lasting change...

Money troubles? Happiness is taking one small action per day to get your finances in order. Again, a mechanical process that will change your life.

Optimism is a habit that can be learned, just as one's pessimism is learned. Remember the Clint Eastwood movie when he would hit that rock with a sledge hammer day after day, seeing no result as the days went by? One day, one final hit with the hammer split the rock in two. The joy of accomplishment was ever sweeter because he knew from the very start that every one of the thousands of hammer strikes was necessary in order to achieve the goal of a split rock. He simply took the daily action necessary without regard for the fact that the rock sat there day after day, seemingly unbreakable.

What habit or circumstance seems unbreakable in your life?

Take joy in your tiny daily actions toward what you want. These tiny actions are actually the hardened steel of the tracks you're riding toward certain success.

Life is about process, not results. Results always follow sound process.

Life is always a process. Perfect is dead.

And I don't mean that there is no perfect. I mean that once something becomes perfect or "complete" that something dies and no longer lives.

To be imperfect is to be perfect.

Humans are made to be a constant process, an evolution. When you die is the only time when you stop evolving or processing and that is the only time when you have finally become "complete". No more processing after this point.

There also comes a time when we need to stop talking and start doing.

Talking is also doing.

Once a man has accomplished the great stuff that he has wanted to do in his life, it is natural for him to feel the urge to share his happiness. Talking is one of the most powerful way to do this.

No more keyboard jockeying . Action is the place.
There is a saying thrown around in the bodybuilding world , "Enjoy the process". I agree Atom, it is key to enjoy the process. When you think everything takes a week to do, then you don't accomplish it, you will quit because you programmed your mind to think everything comes quickly. In reality, most acomplishemt s and changes come at a slower pace than you think. That is why seeing little changes here and there is what keeps us moving.

A+ post.

If you want to talk, talk to your friends. If you want a girl to like you, listen to her, ask questions, and act like you are on the edge of your seat.

Love posts and advice like this from the wisemen.

Can't achieve large goals without taking the small steps to get there. Everything has a process. Enjoy it, take pride in it, own it and you will see results.

In theory this may he true, but the problem is no one cares about the process. People want results, money in the bank, wins in the season. You don't get anywhere by telling people how hard you worked or how much effort you put it, people just want to see the end product. As they say "don't give me the labour pains, just give me the baby."

That's where guys get frustrated, they workout, join clubs, get money, dress well, are outgoing but still can't get laid or be successful with women. They have to understand that one has nothing to do with the other.

You could be the best guy in the world: rich, handsome, good job, funny, good social life, at peace with yourself. But if you don't have a girl on your arm at the Christmas party....people will think something is wrong with you.

That why if I ever have a kid I will tell him: "You should care about 3 things, everything you do is legal, there is a abundant stream of money going into your bank account, and you have a pretty girl on your arm. I don't care about the process." :cheer:
