A female told me "i have alot going on right now". We had been texting but she backed off on phone calls. What it meant is she was giving another guy a shot.

Nobody should be dating etc that hard that they keep flaking. All it means is your not important enough.

I haven't had a lot of bad/strange excuses, but I do have a couple related stories.

On your point of there being few women who are straight with you about not wanting to see you, when I first started dating after my divorce (actually think it may have been my first Bumble date), I went out on two dates with a girl, didn't try to kiss her and I acted like what I thought a gentleman was supposed to be. This despite her touching my leg a couple times during the dates (I didn't lay a finger on her). At the end of the second date when I walked her to her car, she gave me this impatient/expecting look on her face like, "FOR F*CK's SAKE CLUELESS DUDE, this is your LAST CHANCE to kiss me or I'm gone forever!" I literally CRINGE looking back on this. I texted a few days later for a third date and she was really polite and told me that she really enjoyed meeting me but was feeling platonic instead of romantic vibes from me and that she wishes me the best. Totally honest and spot-on too.
Same thing happened with the first chick I tried to date after my divorce. After so many years out of the game I was completely stale missed all the signs and totally fvcked it up. But it was a good experience to remind me that chicks have a window of opportunity they give you, and if you don't climb through the window the LJBF gets slammed on your fingers.

Probably the strangest thing that has happened to me was I had one girl that I'd been seeing for about 3 weeks (we'd slept together twice at this point), come over for dinner to my house. She was at my place for maybe 30 mins while I cooked and we talked. I went outside at one point to check on the grille (I was out there 30 seconds MAX) and when I came back in she had sneaked out of the house and took off in her car! Of course, I didn't contact her, but the next day she sent me a text apologizing for how she left and said "school is too important to be dating right now" (she was 23).
Mine was when I was 17. I was on a date with a chick at the movies and she got up to go to the bathroom and didn't come back.... I finally got up and asked another chick to check the restroom...she was gone. This was in the days of pay phones, so I called her house and asked if she was there.... Nope.... Then I could hear her Dad in the back-ground screaming that he was on his way, so I told her mom what theater and waited.... about 15 minutes later, her dad, a friend of his, and her older brother home from college arrives and immediately starts screaming at me and threatening wondering "What did you do!" Things got physical... the cops showed up, and I was the one that was arrested. When I was sitting in the back of the police car... handcuffed... she drives up in a car with her old boyfriend because she had forgotten her coat in the theater. She then proceeded to make up some story about me 'trying something' so she called her old BF to come get her.

The cops got it all sorted out, since there were witnesses that confirmed I was the one that was attacked (even though her brother and her dad's friend were on the ground incapacitated), and one of the theater workers had a completely different story about when she left with her BF... who had apparently followed us to the movies. I never met the guy and didn't know what he looked like but had been hanging around and she saw him. The cops told me if I didn't want to press charges I could just go home. I took that deal... and just chalked the whole thing to a learning experience about chicks.

"Oh nooo. I completely forgot about our date."

Then radio silence as she texted to try and re-schedule...

Flaking chicks should not concern a man.
Move on. If she changes her mind, okay.
But it happens again, I don't have the time or nerves to put up with it.

Wow, that's a crazy story. I'm glad it worked out in your favor though..... would have really sucked to take the heat for defending yourself (which I feel like often happens if, in defending yourself, you incapacitate the other person).
