I think the best way to deal with it is just to laugh, because its not going away any time soon. You gotta remember half the audience that listens to these songs are WOMEN. Its basic marketing. Say your target market for a hip hop album is young people, ages 16-24. You don't want to lose half your target market, so you appeal to both sexes. Therefore, these artists sell out and produce/write tracks that are AFC.

If you like hip hop and can't stand the stuff today (like me) you can't go wrong with Tupac. He was the ultimate alpha male, however he showed respect for the women who really mattered in his life, like his mom. One of his best lines was "I'd rather die like a man than live like a coward."

You guys all make some good points.. The majority of todays rap and r&b music straight up promotes AFC Behavior. People think hip hop culture promotes the DJ Mentality but that is so wrong. Listen to some newer songs by Jay-Z, Ludacris, Nelly, and many other artists and they talk about buyin their woman jewlery, clothes and taking her on shopping sprees. While they may be more hardcore than r&B singers, the message still promotes AFC behavior in that u have to buy a woman stuff to keep her. Straight up BS. However, there are a few R&B songs out there that do not promote AFC behavior and talk bout how to make luv with a woman. Examples are "Signs of Love Makin", "I wanna Go There", and many other songs from the Tyrese album "I Wanna Go there". Heck, thats probably why Tyrese is one of my most fav. singers cause he actually does not promote AFC behavior in most of his songs.

theres only so much you can block out. after constently being entertained by AFCish stuff (movies/music) you cant help it but get influenced. Even the biggest pimp in the world will get brainwashed if he listened to Usher all day.

I agree, I mean the R&B **** is catchy cuz you can sing along wit it. Although it promotes AFC behavior, it does not mean you can't listen to it. I listen to rap, R&B, Rock, Old School Metal (Metallica, MegaDeath), Rock & Roll....all that **** is cool wit me. The R&B is O.K. as long as nobody listens to it for long periods of time.
(haha Purple Haze listening to Usher all day...I do think that the big Snoop D-O-Double Gizzle could endure it though.)

Since our eyes are trained to see this, we notice and filter this out. But how about the remainder 99% of the population who don't recognize the correlation in this music to AFCism.

You know what? I think I can agree 100% with that. The last girl I dated just LOVES Boyz to Men and to be honest I hated listening to them because it was just too damn emotional. It was nice to listen to them when she was in my arms but not when I'm alone. I think all these love songs were meant for females to listen to.

I've quit listening to the radio and I just listen to Business Success CD's and my David DeAngelo CD's. I used to listen to talk radio but what's the point of listening to Ads and political topics all the time? I just wanna be successful in life and successful with women.

In new school hip hop they almost never talk bout being the nice guy. Maybe in R&B once in awhile but rap and crunk just talk bout fcking *****es and hoes.

I listen to more old school rap. Nowadays after pac died every rapper thinks that in order for their songs to sell they got to talk about killing and fcking hoes.
