Technology. It is giving everyone the ability to live on their own and care for themselves. It's making us more isolated in an acceptable manner. Think about how it used to be: the man was the breadwinner and helped with home repairs, the woman was the caretaker. It was simple. Nowadays, with the help of websites men are able to take care of ourselves by finding simple recipes to cook our own food, easily accessible porn, food delivery services, sports and movies for entertainment, gaming systems, etc. Women can Youtube common housing repairs and DIY or they make enough to just pay a guy, satisfaction from all the Likes and DMs they receive off social media, and some of the other things I mentioned that are benefits for men as well. The only thing we can't do independently from one another is procreate. Even with that we're probably heading in that direction with test tube babies.

I know so many more single people now than before and most claim to be happily single and I truly believe that. Because I'm one of them. Guess what the married people tell me: Don't ever get married. Lol. It's an interesting thought to think that men and women are adapting to being separate from one another. And I believe it's only going to continue in that direction with more technological advances.

Technology has offered far too many choices as in partners which is a double-edged sword. 1) more selection - good 2) thinking something better is right around the corner, especially for females - very bad.

I've been single for about 3 years after being in a 9 year LTR. Plus, I'm over 45 so I can speak about dating , relationships before tech and after. The #1 thing I've found is the female's tendency to jump ship very quickly to another partner over very benign, trivial matters.

No one, unless you're over 45, really puts in much effort to make a relationship work. As soon as challenges pop up, fire up Tinder and find someone "better" and start the pattern over again and again.

Plus, now to meet household economic needs and buy all the sh*it we don't really need, both people in a marriage have to work. Throw in kids on top of a 50-hour workweek for man and woman, bills, relatives, general disagreements, me time, etc, etc and it's the perfect storm.

Younger people's communications skills have gotten so bad, because of over-reliance on tech that they cannot effectively problem solve in a relationship.

Mix in the fact most men under 45 are really feminine nowadays and you have....

The aforementioned perfect storm.

BTW, I am really enjoying my singlehood and am currently on a hot streak with 20-something women that would make Pete Rose, Ted Williams, and Paul Molitor jealous, haha.

Check that video, it was quite to the point. And it's a 2013, one... My GF agreed on it too.

Yeah, we have now: choice/options/equality/men bashing (compared to women bashing etc.

Also, we have people full of egos who prefer a "new" to a "let's work it out"

Relationships and Marriage was never easy but before your "options of coping out" were minimal and often societal restrictive.

When Women got the option of Divorce: They jumped on it..

What does that tell you? If a woman wants out of a LTR, something is going wrong. BTW, I'll blame Men too for "falling the LTR"... Blame goes both ways.

In the past.. There was logical reasons to be a in a LTR or Marriage (kids, social hierarchy, sex and love, religion, partner, work, money$)... Now there is no logical reasons except: Emotional need

Yep and once you learn to live without that, there's really not a whole lot more to look for in a LTR.

What happens, IN HER MIND, is that she comes to see you as WORTHLESS simply because she hasn't had to INVEST anything in you in order to get you or to keep you.

You were an interesting diversion while she had nothing else to do. But now that someone a little more valuable has come along, someone who expects her to treat him very well, she'll have no problem at all dropping you or demoting you to lowly "friendship" status.

The millenials or "current" génération, according to financial data I've came across (gotta refind source)...

It's the first génération in human history where the "homeownership" (condo/house owner) is over 44% of single... Single homeownership is starting to be the "trend" . So people who are homeowner without GF/BF even kids are the new "average"

Before Homeownership was like 80% for LTR/Married couple.

LTR and Couple are getting more rare too. Everywhere i go, i notice that LTR/Married couple are a "curiousity" and attract alot of attention and "warm feelings" . I would say on a room of 100 people, max 10 people are with a GF/LTR in the room... And more than 70% of people are single

Same here. I know quite a few single people who have bought houses they can't afford on their own who need roommates. One of my friends can afford it but he'd rather fill his house up with nice TVs, gaming consoles and stuff like that so he just finds himself a roommate.

I've seen it among my clients too, before they got LTR and kids..

It's a smart move if you want my take (if you buy a Home you can afford).

Buying something you can't afford is dumb even if you in a LTR... And bank love that and can't wait to increase your debt rate to lock you there forever.

Buying something you can afford and if single.. Get roomate to share spending and mortgage. Its Smart! (Allow you to finish mortgage faster, have company, save on spending.. Until you fall in love).

I should have done this if it happens! Lol (i am in LTR)

Whatever ever issues we think are issues aren't really issues. We either survive or we don't.

Malthusian cycles (large rolling waves of increasing and decreasing populations) have been around since humans learned how to farm.

The industrial revolution created a MASSIVE population surge that is bound to correct. When it does, most societies today will cease to exist, whatever modern issues we think are so important will be the tales of future mythology.

Marriage will be back in vogue when getting enough to eat everyday isn't easy and takes a day's effort. Current society of easy food easy safety easy money is much more of an aberration than most realize.

Watch TV shows like Vikings and The Last Kingdom to see what life was LIKE and what life WILL BE again sooner or later.

Exactly. In the meantime we live in a society where needing help to satisfy basic human needs isn't prevalent. A lot of things are easily accessible. I can see what you're saying happening eventually but probably not in my lifetime, though.

Jesus Christ I hope not. Whoever is alive when the reversion to the pre-industrial mean happens, it's going to be the biggest, most chaotic bloodbath in planetary history.

Archaeologists who study this sort of thing tend to find evidence of horrific sh*t when societies start to collapse. A saying from the government created famines (allegedly) in the Ukraine in the early 1900's "I'll kill my brother today so I can live tomorrow."
