iv'e never understood the concept of keeping a dating rotation

Why would you want to be constantly dating 3 women its just expensive , time consuming and usually a headache

The only time i would consistently "date" a woman and invest time and energy into her was if i wanted her to be my actual GF

Aside from that i just keep things very casual and non committal perhaps one proper "date" to get to know her and then she will either go into the fvck buddy category or if she's really pleasant i may consider seeing her again but only if i can see it going anywhere

Thats about as far as i'm willing to go with them

Quite frankly the idea of putting the amount of time energy and money OP is suggesting into women would keep me awake at night

Don't really care how frequent the sex is cost will eventually compound and eventually bite you on the A$$

This is something I've been wondering about quite a bit.

Do you guys think 'dating' ie going places, restaurants, events, etc is actually conducive to a good relationship, or is it just a form of 'payment' or something that shows commitment, or respect or boost a womans ego.

For sure a date like a few drinks in a bar is useful to talk and get to know someone, and ofcourse people are gonna be going out and going places with their partners and doing stuff but how much of this actually builds love and positivity and how much is just a "you have to pay as it shows I have value and worth".

I say this because I think the concept of 'Dating' is really making relationships difficult and suboptimal.

In my experiences the types of women that want you to commit to some sort of structured dating format usually tend to be extremely high maintenance , very demanding and the relationship eventually develops into a transactional one

In an equal rights society which is what modern society seems to want more and more

dating should be 50/50 , effort split 50/50 , cost split 50/50

The ONLY exception to his is maybe the first and second dates where generally it is still customary for the man to foot the bill

OP is in his mid 40"s so it's likely he is doing things a bit differently

Some men do enjoy being financially dominant over females especially older generations ....... personally i see little to no benefit unless of course you are extremely well off

To avoid oneitis, so you always have options and you want care if she flakes because of the abundance mindset.

A woman has to prove herself before she is elevated to the status of GF, if she acts up you replace her with the next girl in your rotation.

My boyfriend does not want kids of his own. Period. In fact he’s dumped hot fertile young women because guess what? They want kids. He has zero interest in babies. He also has had enough notch counts from crazies, strippers, groupies, and the like that he’s over all that too.
Dating a woman with kids over 18 is no picnic either. Many 18-29 year olds today are not independent. Many still live at home. Additionally, many of the 18-29 year olds not living with their parents are a continual risk to need to come back and live at home. Most of them are just a job loss away from that.

An older man (usually 45+) dating a woman (usually also 45+) who has kids over 18 will still need to deal with her kids in some fashion. I can't imagine a lot of childless older men being psyched about that arrangement. The woman's adult children also aren't psyched to deal with some man who wasn't present in their formative years.

Another thing I've seen in Baby Boomer/early Gen X couples are two people 50+ who both have kids over 18. The adult children from each side of those relationships tend to not enjoy the arrangement. Adult children have a way of being cordial to each other at family functions but they'll talk negatively to their own friends about.

For a childless man who is 45+, the best option is a childless, 40+ woman for something with longevity.

If sex alone was what made solid relationships then every guy here would be happily settled in with the hottest crazy he could find. But that isn’t what makes great partnerships long term alone. Any experienced dude knows that & could write a dissertation about it. I know my guy could.
I think that's what every guy here wants. He wants the youngest, hottest, sexiest most fertile girl to have sex with.

I don't think guys "want" relationships. It's brainwashing by the media and powers that be to keep men in check, not threaten their power, and keep spending money on women. Men want sex with young girls. It's all about young young young. Those "incels" don't blow up because they can't have relationships with 39-year-old single mothers, they blow up because they can't have sex with 19-year hot college students.

Relationships would make more sense if women didn't have freedom, power, and access to society's resources, but when they have that and more, for a man to get into a long-term fully stable fully committed relationship with a non-fertile non-virgin woman makes no sense.
The number one need for men in interacting with women is sex. A good sexual connection alone won't take a relationship past the 12 month point. Sex with the same woman if there's nothing else besides a physical connection won't last beyond 12 months. A guy with an extremely attractive woman (9-10 to most men) might stay solely for the sex beyond 12 months provided the woman will stay. In a lot of cases, the extremely attractive woman will be pushing for more than sex because her looks can get her some interaction with a man that will be more than physical.

I agree that men want sex with the youngest possible woman that they can get. A 35-40 year old woman sounds good to a 50-55 year old man, whereas a 30 year old man isn't that excited about a 35-40 year woman.

When men go sexless, bad things start to happen to the man on an individual level.
