When you really desire something and trully have confidence that you can acheive it.... you can... that is a major point in Think and Grow Rich.

And think abouth it.... it really is so.

The book made me think and refresh tat knoweledge I had and forgotten.

I really can think of lots of examples to this being true.

Mack Jr., read the book and you will understand what that COLOSSAL power Krassus it talking abouth.

You may or may not agree with the book, but it will deffinatly not be a vaste of your time to read it.

Well.. this is not what i was expecting when i entered this topic.

I'm an avid reader.. but not really these kind of books.

I've read 'how to win friends & infulence people'.. & while there were some good ideas, alot of it was overly exagerated (just look at the 'real' examples of people he's helped!) & didn't corrispond to the real world.

The Books you're suggesting (& the sheer amont of them) seem to be overly concerned with the pursuit of 'sucess' & money. Thats fine & everything, but don't you think that you will become almost a robot constantly thinking in the form of programmes / techniques & missing out on the most important thing in life... FUN.

Yeah, spend your life working your ass off to get that 6 figure salury. Get your fancy sports car & home swimming pool. Fill your world with empty material possesstions. Thats what happiness is, right?

To me, money is NOT impotant. Some of the happiest times in my life infact were when i was in finacial difficulty. Having good friends & exploring the wonders of life is what is important.

I can't believe someone even suggested reading / listening to self help stuff all the time & ignoring all art forms (the creative & fun side to life) like movies / music to fill it with the empty / vacuous pursuit of wealth & power.

Try reading
"American Pyscho" by Brett Easton Ellis
"The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald
"The Pearl" by John Steinbeck

These are examples of how money & the soul-less obbession for power will crush the humanity & spirit within you.

A book that demonstartes how wonderful & FUN life can be is
"The Dice Man" by Luke Rhinehart

Greed. It's not a good human trait to possess. To be a compassionate, decent human being with morals & integrity & a lust for life is what i'm looking for.

Don't judge sucess with how big someones house is. Live life. Embrace it. The world is a wonderful place. Don't ignore it.

Thats just my view anyway. I might be wrong. My thoughts may be misguided & a little niave, but.. well, i'm happy.

I have to say that i fully agree with your view on life, except for one little detail. I can have/be/do all that and still be rich. The two aren't mutually exclusive by any means. Quite the opposite - they're mutually beneficial! How happy does one feel when he can't afford to feed his family? How much money does one make when he becomes depressed? It takes some money to be happy and it takes some happiness to make money. Everything in life is connected. There is perfect balance and harmony for those who are willing to look for them.

There is no reason to forget about happiness while seeking money, or forget about money while seeking happiness. You can have both, and then some! And this is exactly what the overall theme of these books is. Its not money, its self-improvement! Becoming the best you can be. Making your dreams come true. Attaining great wealth, great health and great happiness! You say you're an avid reader, yet judge books by their covers. For years, i went around saying the same things you are now and telling myself that money doesn't matter. Then i began learning.

P.S. Also, i'm not really sure what you meant by criticizing Dale Carnegie. The examples he provided are perfectly in tune with everything i've seen and experienced. He was, and still is, widely regarded as one of the world's greatest experts on human relations. Keep in mind that the book was written three quarters of a century ago though!

I only have a couple of recommendations:
The Way of the Peaceful Warrior - Dan Millman
"Self-reliance" - Ralph Waldo Emerson (not really a book, but an essay, you can find it on the internet)

Does anyone know any good books on storytelling?

I would recommend everyone not to buy Donald Trump's How to Get Rich. I bought this book & am heavily disappointed. I thought that it'd be good since it's by Trump and from BBC press. But it isn't & is a waste of money. I am going to return it tomorrow.

First off, this is not a "how to get rich" book. It's a self-promotional (Apprentice), thank you (to the people he worked with), and leadership type book. He even talks about his hair style. Moreover, nothing is in-depth. Everything is so trivial. You guys should check Amazon rating. Last off, avoid buying this book.

Well I'm here to tell you there is such a magic wand. Something that will make you almost completely irresistible to any woman you "point it" at. Something guaranteed to fill your life with love, romance, and excitement.

7 habits is a tough read. But one I think is worthwhile.

Another good read is Mindpower by John Kehoe.
