Of course I can't be 100% certain that it was my ex who did it but it is HIGHLY likely that it was her. My car has never been touched or damaged in the several years I have owned it and then it gets keyed after an argument with my ex?

I have heard a number of women explain how their ex boyfriends damaged their cars but never really have heard of girls damaging their ex's cars. This is truly a f*cked up situation. I feel like doing all sorts of things to get her back but firstly, how to know it was even her or that she organised it and secondly, I am in a profession and work for an organisation that is very intolerable of criminal records and other such things.

With cases such as these there's no way to know for sure that she did it but everything on Earth points in her direction. What advice do you guys have for me?

EDIT: I honestly feel like I can't let this go. My ex is the type who thinks she's very in control of the world and can act how ever the f*ck she wants to act. She's obsessed with confrontation and I have witnessed her get in fist fights. It's the opposite of what I have dated in the past but whatever, it happened and I have learnt. I was the 'nice guy' to her in the relationship, never was so nice and gentle with a girl in my life. She has only really seen me as kind, understanding and very committed to living a clean and law-abiding life due to my profession and ambitions but if I just repair the car, I can see it happening again. I have to send a message.

Cops won't do anything. I've taken dumb bell to a side of a car, and not once, it has been reported to police, and nada.

If you want to catch her you need a video evidence, and with that you can go to small claims court. Do you need that?

A small hole on the side wall of a tire can not be plugged. An ice pick is a great tool.

I might go into the cop shop today and just report things. I have a whole heap of dirt on the b*tch about issues which she failed to work with the police with but she told me everything. I wouldn't go getting involved in that sh*t as it'd just bring me into the seedy plastic gangster world which she loves to be associated with. She keyed all around my car very deeply. Can't just be buffed out I'm assuming.

All my ex's before her would never had done this kind of thing. I've always dated pretty girls with brains and a life, this one was hot but has absolutely nothing going for her.

Never thought about tires... Good idea.

You essentially upped your VALUE in her eyes by showing her that, if she wants you, she has to at times do things that you like to do. You are SOMETHING after all. You are NOT FREE. If she wants to hang with you, it's going to cost her something — time, effort, money.

Don't do anything to her. Report to the police and get your insurance to pay for the damage. Reacting to her will just fuel the fire and she will know you have done it and come back with something worse. It's not worth risking the job for.

1. Police won't do anything. Waste of time.

2. There is an insurance deductable and the future rate hike. How much to paint car? $600. Subtract deductable and enjoy your $100 bill and the higher insurance rates. Way to f'ck yourself up.

3. Poking her tires will prompt a response.

4. A 5 cam DVR cost very little and can even be installed inside a car. A two way alarm system is something everyone should have.

Look either you don't do sh't or you f*ck with her.

P.S. here time is on your side. Don't do anything for couple of weeks, install DVR and 2-way. Pay for paint yourself, try a touch up for now.

You could do what cops do to solicit a confession - they lie.

You could tell her she got caught on camera and you have the evidence. Or maybe you found a witness. Or make up something about how you hired a crime lab that will be able to tell you the type of key used and a description of the vandal from the imprint of the scratch. Criminals are stupid and cops take advantage of that all the time. Tell her if she confesses and pays for the damage, you won't have her put in jail.

Obviously, you have to be a convincing liar (like a cop). But even if she doesn't bite, it's still worth it to plant the doubt in her head. Your parting words could be something like, "fine, b!tch, enjoy your stay in prison. I'm going to post your mug shot on facebook and tag you in it." :D

Insurance only goes up if you are found AT FAULT for an accident. It will never go up because someone rear ended you or because someone vandalized your car. Is there a chance they may TRY to raise your insurance? Of course, but it is illegal. They can only raise it if there is evidence that you are responsible for the damage and that your probability of becoming involved in an accident has increased (which is how insurance rates are calculated).

Report it to your insurance, paint it with touch up paint from the dealer ($20 at most) and keep the change. It costs thousands of dollars to paint a whole car, not $600. I have seen it done many times when I lived in an area of high vandalism AND I have worked with car for years.

You are showing your young age in the above. Insurance companies can do what they want, whenever the hell they want. They are NOT regulated. They spend 100's of millions of dollars lobbying in government to keep this arrangement and the politicians oblige after stuffing money in their pockets.

Don't believe me? Ask some of those hurricane Katrina victims how their insurance company used a technicality ("water damage" vs hurricane damage) to avoid compensating customers who were paying them for 25+ years for insurance coverage.

You're showing immaturity in the number of emoticons you use. To my understanding, OP wasn't involved in a natural disaster. Of course insurance companies will attempt to save money in a situation with massive claims; unfortunately, that is the foundation of this country: capitalism.

Corporations do spend millions of dollars lobbying government; that is why is highly unlikely that there will ever be a universal health system in the country. OP: do not believe me and ask your insurance company. If their answer is in accordance with mine, come and tell us; otherwise, come and tell us, too. I will take credit when deserved and admit making a mistake when that is the case.

You have got to be kidding me. Either you have no real world experience or you lack intelligence. Look, your picture of the real world is false, you exist in false reality. A criminal would check for cameras, check very carefully, and check for alarm, lighting, other cars. You telling her you caught her on camera and that she is going to jail is a clear sign og bluff - and not just bluff but very stupid kind of bluff. If you want to black mail, throw a picture in her face. By the way, even if you caught her red handed, that's a small claims court.

Now Robyn123b

Your rates will go up if you file a claim, matters not who is at fault. Secondly, adjuster will rate a few deep scratches at a maximum of $600ish, AND they will paint base coat, AND your car will look different color depending on lighting. Such pain in the ass no one needs. Insurance is a fraud, get the cheapest basic coverage.

With the type of chick she is, she will call bluff. And if she got someone else to do it, it will make me look ridiculous.

As of right now, I think the smartest thing to do is lay low for a while. Undoubtedly she is preparing for a retaliation of some sort. If she experiences none for several weeks it's just natural to be more at ease and less prepared. I have to really contemplate and devise an approach which will be low risk high reward.

Might go scouring some other forums, I'm sure someone has come up with something better then keying her car or letting the air out of her tires. Plus, she lives in a secure apartment. Car is always parked underground.

Same applies to cars. If your car is stolen, your insurance can go up. If you're sitting at a red light and get hit in the back, your insurance can go up.

If you drive a red car, your insurance is higher. If you drive a coupe, your insurance is higher. Why is it your fault that OTHER people in red cars or coupes smash their cars more frequently? Insurance companies can use any reasoning to increase your rates and you can't sue them. It is not illegal. You can only go to another insurance company and they can do the same if they want.

Stop being defensive and look at the facts. I'm not attacking your personal character or integrity. I'm making a point about the insurance industry.

I don't care what the OP asks and what his insurance company says. I know what I said as fact. I PERSONALLY know people who have been in accidents that were NOT their fault and their rates went up. The insurance company just told him his rate went up and said it is just the new rate for his car. Deal with it. Do you realize what insurance is? It is a statistical calculation of how much of a risk you are as a client. If you are in a neighbourhood where idiots can't drive and hit you a couple of times for no good reason, then you are a greater risk to the company. Therefore you have to pay more. It is math & stats, not only how good of a driver you are.

Another one: my father used to drive to work in an industrial highway with lots of little stones flying around. His windshield would get chipped every few months. Not really his fault. How can you avoid a stone at 60 mph? The insurance company eventually refused to cover his windshield repairs.

Use your DJ skill to get inside, befriend someone. Those lots are great, camera on entrance, dark inside.

Meanwhile, are you loud or disrespectful at your place? Could be your neighbor.

I know how to get into the car park easily... Just wait around and pretend to be carrying something and walk in when someone uses their security card to unlock the door entrance. But then her car is parked in another secured area - has like a metal cage that you pull down so it's all mini garages within the underground car park itself. I mean, half the people in the apartment knew me because I was there every day which could also be a massive negative.

It's going to be virtually impossible to get the car while it's parked in there but very easy to get her as she's driving in or out... But how to do it and not get caught or seen?

I really just wanted to leave it as it was and have no contact with this b*tch but she had to go and do thousands of dollars worth of damage. Such a weak c*nt of a wh*re she is. Never experienced such a disgusted sl*t in my lifetime. Never have committed myself to a person like this not just in relationships but life in general and the first time I do - look what happens.

Some people say oh just leave it don't fight fire with fire two wrongs don't make a right but seriously she's putting me back some serious cash and mental trauma. There's a bunch of other sh*t I haven't gone into detail with but she is seriously messed up. She thinks she's in a gangster movie.

Go to the police station and fill out a police report. Then talk to your insurance about your options. You can also consider applying for a restraining order.

**Filling out a police report isn't done so charges will be filed against her for this crime because they won't. One report won't do anything but create a foundation for future crimes against you or involving her. It creates a paper trail. Maybe she will key her next ex boyfriends car as well. The police will be able to see that this is the second time she is named in a report involving similar crimes. Or if she tries to vandalize any more of your property you can immediately cite that this is the second time you have been victimized and you suspect her. If you don't fill out a report and it happens again guess what the police will say? "Why didn't you report it to us?"
