I have the hots for a girl I see in the student center at my school.

Seen her there a few times; sometimes she's by herself, sometimes with friends. I do remember meeting her at a bus shelter one really cold winter morning (long story:The commuter lot on our campus was closed for some reason, and we had to park on a different campus and catch a bus). I have tried to catch her eyes a couple of times at the student center, but she's either shy, or ignoring me, or something.

I was thinking of a direct approach (when she's by herself, obviously), basically: "Hi, I've seen you here quite a few times and thought you're cute and want to meet you" or something like that.

What do you guys think ? All ideas are encouraged.

Just go ahead and say whatever you want. it's not the words that counts but your personality that's gonna make a difference.

And don't be afraid of getting rejected

Walk up to her and say

You: How about a dance?
Her: What?
You: I want to dance with you.
Her: You're crazy, this isn't a place to dance.
You: Sorry, I was in an accident when I was little and my head was injured, I forget where I am sometimes. (then put a little smirk on your face and extend your hand) My name is -insert name here- by the way.

Uhh ok that probably wouldn't work, but that was just a wake up call for you to get creative and have fun with it. That's all you have to do. We can't give you exact words to use, because you must learn to act on a whim and to wing it, its a necessary skill to becoming a true DJ. Just remember to never take the pickup too seriously.

Very clever Danny. I was gonna say when you walk by her make ur bag so all the books fall out right in front of her and see how she reacts. Thats probably a horrible idea but it would be funny if u didnt really care.

Direct approaches are boring. Especially in boring places like study halls or w/e. If you're going to approach a girl in a place like that, you better make it interesting. Grab a chair, sit right next to her and drop some books on the desk. "Looks like you read my mind babe, I've been needing a smart girl to help me study.. looks like you're the lucky one." As long as you don't approach her with a boring question that she's expecting, then she'll be swept off her feet in suprise for at least 2 seconds. Thats where you open up.

RIGHT ON DANNY! William is right though. Theirs no need say something clever. It comes down to energy, personality, body language, tonality, meaning, then the words. So why worry about what to say?

Just pick any open ended subject that is easy to talk about. She won't be 'swept off her feet' by some genuis pick up line, but she will react to your energy and meaning behind your words.

Do you say, "Nice day today." To just notice the weather?

Or do you say, "Nice day today." To subcommunicate. "Hello, I thought you were so cute I had to talk to you. Do you know how to speak, too?"

She should know your meaning, not through your words, but through your EYES. Communicate that interest.
