Question About Eggs

nope, i eat about 6-8 eggs (boiled) everyday
the cholestorel i believe is for age, for people above 50y/o

but i could be wrong, i never heard of such thing as egg being bad

your body makes all the cholesterol it needs so taking in any amount is getting "extra"

eggs contain lecithin, which balances out the cholesterol equation, since it prevents the buildup of cholesterol against the arteries and veins. eggs really aren't a concern like they were in the old days

there ARE ways of "burning" cholesterol... for instance, eating vegetables will reduce the amount in your blood. the compound in veggies that makes them crisp reduces stomach acid in order to properly digest them, and so the body takes cholesterol out of your blood in order to make more stomach acid

also, get some sunshine, since the sun's rays turn the cholesterol in your skin into Vitamin D

soluble fiber, such as that found in apples, will clean cholesterol out of your body before it hits the bloodstream

there's other ways, but that’s off the top of my head

all in all, if you are eating a healthy diet and are active, an egg a day shouldn’t hurt... personally I eat a dozen a week. make sure they are cooked so you absorb the protien proper.

I eat about 3-4 eggs for breakfast every morning, along with oatmeal and a fresh orange/apple or banana.

I only use one or two egg yokes, for flavor, and use the other egg whites only. This will reduce much of the cholestoral and saturated fats. Egg whites are an extremely healthy source of protein.

Egg yolks are also a natural source of fat, which is another factor which makes them healthier for you. If possible, organic eggs are an even better choice.

Eggs have come under alot of bad press recently, which is really unjustified. If you are a physically active person, the animal fats (particularly saturated) won't be a problem as you're "burning them off".

As for cholesterol, dietary cholesterol doesn't equal blood cholesterol. Most of the cholesterol in our body is made by our liver and large intestine, and only a very small amount comes from the foods we eat.

What you should be looking at is, "which foods/ fats raise HDL, LDL and VLDL levels?". It is these lipoproteins which are responsible for properly transporting cholesterol molecules, and removing any excess from your circulatory system. Egg yolks raise both "good" HDL and "bad" LDL levels almost equally, which means that no there is no significant change in blood (serum) cholesterol levels.

What is responsible for raising LDL/ VLDL levels significantly are processed, unnatural oils such as hydrogenated "trans fat" oils and cheap vegetable oils. These are the fats/ oils that you should avoid.
