Hey guys, a few months back I remember reading something on here about dopamine or something. Being the impulsive jump-before-I-look type of guy, I took a few cocao nibs before meeting a girl.

Well the sex was insanely good and I had great pleasure without cumming for quite a while and when I finally came the orgasm was mind blowing.

But this got me thinking, is having such altered dopamine levels dangerous? Can you overdose on it? Or is this a good pre sex supplement? What about taking it daily? Thanks

Dopamine addiction is a real thing. You can't overdose on it because your body produces it. Cocoa contains amino acids that are the precursor the body uses to make dopamine, but it doesn't contain any dopamine itself. This is why eating chocolate makes you feel better (comfort food)

Consistently high dopamine levels are bad for your state of mind. This is why people become addicted to drugs. But you have to be doing a lot of stuff consistently to really have bad effects

I never done any drugs. Barely drink, only been drunk once.

just the experience I had made me worried I might overdose or something as it was very powerful

My mom didn't drink coffee for something like 10-15 years and decided out of the blue to drink a very large cappucino when I had some at a cafe. She started tripping balls about an hour later, and some guy on Joe Rogan confirmed that caffeine is a strong halucinogen based on research he did. But this is only true if you have abstained a long time. You become desensitized to the effects of it if you consume it on a regular basis. This is true for almost everything you put into your body

Dopamine isn't an outside substance though. Tinder and facebook are specifically designed to trigger the dopamine response when you get a like or a match.

Yeah and I’m sure me watching porn every day is a huge dopamine rush.

would you say then I could safely use cacaoNibs every Day or do you think the better course would be to only use it on special occasions?

im always looking for dietary improvements I can make for improving my baseline but if it just makes me strung out or exhausted (can that happen if you have too much dopamine?) then it defeats the purpose for me

Don't always be the one putting yourself out for her. Don't always be the one putting all the effort and work into the relationship. Let her, and expect her, to treat you as well as you treat her, and to improve the quality of your life.

Anything to do with dopamine will be subject to the law of diminishing returns. You'll have to do more and more of it to get an effect. And then it gets to the point where you're doing it because it's a habit and it does little to nothing. This includes porn, coffee, sugar and heroin.

Everything in moderation is probably a good policy if you want to have the heightened experience.

Ok thanks. And thanks for not trying to lecture me on nofap or some nonsense. I tried that whole 60 days without thing and it gave me worse results than when I was a user

When I do a dopamine reset, its usually the most happiest, purposeful 4-8 weeks I can think off, I usually relapse for a few days

but my god I feel good & productive

my social skills go into anavar and trt500 levels as well.

As soon as i turn into a dopamine fiend again , it turns me into an analysis paralysis gonk

so you've started a thread explaining "How good you felt because of XYZ", but because I have also stated how good I felt when I withdraw from all the dopamine triggers , you attempt to debunk it & I'm now a conspiracy theorist.

I never said that. It’s just a familiar claim that’s all

This podcast gives a rundown of dopamine, from a neuroscience context, far better than any broscience manosphere forum will. He even talks about chocolate in it.

When you get a dopamine release doing something productive

Jacking off to porn/gaming/overthinking/social media/OLD: unproductive.
Learning any kind of useful skill/working out/work: productive.

The dopamine response reinforces habits.
Basically. The "detoxes" or "fasting" of dopamine involve removing negative sources of dopamine ( unproductive ) and possibly replacing them with positive sources of dopamine ( productive ).

It doesn't matter how good-looking you are, how romantic you are, how funny you are... or anything else. If she doesn't have something INVESTED in you and the relationship, preferably quite a LOT invested, she'll dump you, without even the slightest hesitation, as soon as someone a little more "interesting" comes along.

Was going to suggest this as well. I am not sure if thats the episode with the Dopamine Nation author or not, but I'd recommend that and her book as well.
