I've just never seen the point in going over 200 and getting huge. I am 5ft 9" or thereabouts. Getting to 185ish or so and around 10-12% has always sounded good to me. Lean, with a decent amount of muscle.

I have always taken a more functional view of training, like a fighter. Speed and conditioning are still of the uptmost importance as is strength. A lot of people barely even consider speed.

This is why my weight hasn't changed all that much over the last 9 months.

This is exactly how I feel too. All of my goals involve either lowering my time on a conditioning workout or lifting a percentage of my bodyweight.

I figure if I can do 100 burpees in 5:30 and pull a triple bodyweight deadlift, I'll look pretty good :D

I agree with you on the overhead press too. I hate benching.

the problem with staying small is you lose strength quickly if you stop training for awhile or get injured. Being a little bigger than you need to be makes it easier to train in different ways and with different goals without sacraficing much strength.

I dunno, I don't think 5'11 185 lbs is "small". Maybe 165, but I think a lean 185 is a good balance.

Looks like I'm using a belt soon Shaunuk. Wow, can't believe I missed that. I remember asking some huge buffed trainer who powerlifts, he told me to wait til I was in the 500s for DLs. I may get straps soon for rep work. Still deciding.

You probably killed that kid making him dead that much Quag! That kid is strong. I remember struggling horribly at that weight when I was 40 pounds bigger than him.

Hey Quag...are you going for 200 lbs now? WBA comes back and all of a sudden everyone on the board is eating more. Go figure haha :D

Yeah that's cool, quag, you're doing well without a belt so no immediate need to use one if you don't want :)

IS: cool, what's your current deadlift? Let us know how much it goes up with a belt on ;)

btw, a belted lift is still called 'raw'

Stallion, read man! Staying SUB 200 :).

And 5ft 9" at 185 lean is certainly not "small", whatever the size freaks want to say. At least it isn't too me.

And Quik, provide some kind of reasoning to what you say, it makes no sense. At 185 I would have at least 30lbs of muscle more than what I had when I started training. And what you say still doesn't make sense to me.

And Kerpal, 3x bw deadlift for the win!

Shaun, raw to me means NOTHING added.

Not a clue what you are build wise mate but im 155 at the same height and to my mates im considered as a bigger guy :S, i would say i have a big frame to fill out into though so quag must be BIG in my opinion lol, in a good way though mate ;) lol

Heh thanks Johnny, you'll get there. I want to see 300 NOW dammit.

Ahhh Stallion, infected by Alex and Effort I see, its too late for you now...:).

Playa, right now I am around 180 at 14-15% which is a guess. I always thought around 185 at 10% would be a decent target, but I will see what happens. I am quite happy with the level of muscle I have and only want a bit more. So basically take of 5-10lbs of fat and put on 10-15lbs of muscle is what I will do. Although that will happen when cicumstances permit, right now I am just focusing on getting stronger and staying relatively lean. In my opinion at that weight I should be well muscled but not HUGE.

Thank you Lifeforce.

Friday extra work:

Plyometric press ups 3x8 -Double clap, not quite ready for triple clap (front).
Bicep curls 11.5-12kg 2x12 -Not sure how much the handle weighs so it is in that range.
Pullups 2x3-Think I will grease the groove with these. Don't know why they are so s*** compared with chins.
Grip: COC No.1 2x5-Over crushes
Door grabx2
EDIT: Also did dynamic stretching/glute activation.

That was it. Yesterday I had to run flat out for 5-10 minutes to catch a train and I was f****** after it, which was good cardio. I think I am going to swtich cardio to 10-15 minutes non stop quite high intensity work instead of interval training for the moment. Perhaps both.

On another note, I need to drink less. Which was already known :). But hey I am still Pr'ing :).

Until Monday...

Quagmire

Lol I plateau if I drink, you lucky bastards :(

I think its that way for everyone when it comes to pull-ups. You got alot more pull from other muscles when going with palms facing you.

drinking is the cause and the cure of all my problems.

Also, Quag 185 at 5 9" only looks really big if you have a low bodyfat, which you haven't and you don't seem to be aiming for either.
