I play Halo2 and have friends who are intense with it. BOY do they think video game skils are transferable. Thing is, you get good at video games because you can test and retest tricks with no consequences but RESTARTING. You can't retest a sniper theory in real life without losing your cranium. However, I've never met anyone who thinks they could be *elite* in the army just b/c they own a bunch of 15 year olds at halo. Moreover, what it takes to be great at in sniping in Halo/Halo 2 is by no means transferable in the real world.
In Halo/Halo 2, your ability to evade the bullet, jump, and snipe fast yields quick results. If you stay put, you get killed. In real life sniping, your ability to never be seen, never surface and pull the trigger without your mark ever knowing you did is crucial. A heat shot is good, but so is a heart shot.
