Im thinking of buying a ps3 and selling it on ebay. I think the release is november 17 for 600 dollars. Im sure these will go for ATLEAST 1200 dollars come christmas time. Im posting this because a lot of people ask how to make some extra cash. If you remmeber the nintendo came out and you couldnt get your hands on one to save your life unless you bought it at 3 times the price on ebay and people did just that.

The problem is getting your hands on one. EBgames and gamesstop are taking pre orders but only 14 a store. I remember last year walmart had people standing outside the night before to get in line. Maybe together we can come up with a plan to get our hands on one.

Oh dude, I had this very same idea! I really want to start a business selling on ebay.

If I had the money I would have pre ordered 10 PS3's a couple months ago and I'm sure you're right about the amount of money you can make per system.

Have you tried pre ordering them from all the chains in your area?

You cant pre order them. Well...you can but like I said they are only offering a maximum of 14 per store and 1 per customer. This also means you cant call on the phone to pre order it. You would have to stand outside in a huge line only to be the 15th person and be **** out of luck.

Keep in mind, a lot of people tried to make money on the XBox 360 in a similar fashion. They snaked them off of eBay for 500-600, and them held on to them thinking the price would go up and they could turn them for 1000+. Turns out, supply exceeded and they were holding on to $600 boxes worth $350. Just be careful, don't buy a PS3 for a cent more than retail, and be ready to sell it before Sony catches up to demand and drops the price. It's easy to lose money by buying them at release price thinking you can turn them for double that, and then holding them too long.

I guess I don't understand how that is pre ordering if you have to stand in line and aren't gauranteed to get one?

This depends on the store's policy. I have a friend who works at EBGames, and he told me that games are still first come first serve with the preorder. The advantage you get with preordering is that you have priority over people who didn't preorder, but it doesn't necessarily garantee a box. It basically works like the airline industry.

However, my friend also told me that they are making an exception for the PS3 and that if you preorder one, you're going to get one at the day of the launch. At least at the particular EBGames he works at...

Capitalism is about exploiting someone else's misfortune, and there is a lot of misfortune around Christmastime. Christmas is half of the annual retail sales in the US. Every parent thinks that they have to buy their little brat every overpriced piece of plastic that he thinks he wants. They are always short on money, and tend to sell their belongings for less than their value to raise money. I have put off buying a motorcycyle so that I can wait until December to buy one, hopefully from someone as desperate as possible. When you deal face-to-face with people who just need money now, I suggest dealing in actual cash, not just a check. People make irrational decisions when they see a pile of money.

Oooh. What he means is, there are only 14 preorders allowed per store. Meaning, only 14 people at maximum can order a ps3. So if you're the 15th person in line for the pre-ordering, they've already reached the max limit. As a matter of fact, it actually happened to a friend of mine. -_-

Also, I'm sure you're only allowed to order one ps3 per person. Is that going to be the case also if you purchase it at the desk?

i know what the release date is, what i am saying is that wal*mart has not given us (the associates who work there) any info on release date, prices, anything other than we are going to be carring them
