Problem with sneakers

Here's the story...

Last Christmas, I received a pair of awesome sneakers from my parents. I was thrilled with these shoes and apperantly so was everyone else. It became impossible for me to go out without someone being baffled by these shoes. Girls seem to be especially fond of them and always approach me. There have been several occasions where it is obvious they are less interested in the shoes than the boy that's wearing them.

The trouble is, I can't muster a decent response to 'ohmygod those shoes are amazing' and wind up saying something stupid like 'thanks' and I let the chance slip through my fingers.

What should I do next time some hottie inevitably compliments my kicks?

There are lots of ways, it depends on how you want to be perceived by other people.

If you want to be C&F go with a ****y comment like "thanks, they looked good on the site but they looked even better on me, but then again what doesn't?"

If you want to come off as friendly funny, someone all the girls can talk to.
"thanks, do you want to touch them?" - "How bout a picture?"

There's lots of ways to respond and different responses get different reactions, of course. It all depends on how you want other people to see you.

Chill out hypebeast, and just say thank you, cut all the crap because if you are receiving compliments then they are obviously interested in some aspect. I like collecting dunks as well, but i guess i am used to the "omg awesome shoes"

I appreciate the help guys, but I don't think I made it clear in the first post I was looking for a response that would initiate conversation.

Often I do say 'thanks' and we part ways because I have nothing else to offer. I need a proper segway into an actual conversation.

Oh, I love it when I can start a conversation on sneakers. It's easy to get a girls attention(they all love shoes) and it feels very natural for me to talk about. Read up on sneakers, find out whats special about your sneakers(if there is anything special about them that is)

It is hard however to start a conversation based on simply "Nice shoes!"
But a typical response for me could be "Thanks, there part of adidas's new consortium collection" if they wanna know more I have a conversation going on just that, if not then oh well I still got complimented on my shoes

Chubbycheeks's responses could also work pretty well. You gotta judge it when the situation comes, if you see that the girls are wearing flashy sneakers they are probably interested in talking about it. If not, chubbys replies can be pretty nice "openers".

you can say "thanks" thats completely fine. I do it sometimes when a girl compliments me. The thing you want to do is thread into a DHV story, neg her or shoot sh*t.

tell a story about how you got these shoes

neg her about her clothing. Most girls these days wear the brand names like hollister or abercrombie, so its easy.

Her: nice shoes
You: (canned joke)
Her: haha
You: I like your abercrombie jacket, yea i saw the same jacket 10 times when i was walking to class today, that must be a nice jacket.

shoot sh*t. Talk about what clothes she likes while making negs or jokes.

situations differ so she might not be wearing a jacket or have the same brand.
so you have to analyze the situation and think fast, but as you get better it will come naturally. I dont even think about it and i already have a canned neg or joke coming out of my mouth.
