One thing that's really great about Sosuave is that a lot of members here have seen the world; all these threads about travel make me want to confess, USA kind of annoys me. The hectic lifestyle here is daunting sometimes, I wouldn't mind being able to kickback in a chillout place, and I hear Australia's very laidback. It's also very diverse from what I hear.

I know some people from Perth, they say that's the place you'd want to check out if you're visiting. So this is a long term goal I have--but a goal nonetheless--I'm saving up some money to check out Australia for a few months, get an apartment there, a job, take surf and guitar lessons....how would I go about doing this?

Sorry for being lazy; I know I can check out one of the many travel threads here in Anything Else

You will need at least $500 a week to cover all your expenses. So at least $6000 for 3 months. More to be comfortable.

Aren't you all about black culture? Why not go live with black people? I'm not even kidding...

I live in Perth. The cost of living is very high here. Rent is expensive ($400 week if you want to live in or near the city) and alcohol is more expensive here than anywhere else in Australia. Dining out is also pricey. It isn't the most exciting place because shops close early and the cost of living is so high. Other cities in Australia might be better for you. Also, not all of Australia is laid back. Sydney certainly isn't.

Wow, I never knew Australia was that expensive. What about staying in hostels, etc.?

Marvin, you could always do what a good friend of mine did. He spent a whole year in Australia, he bought a van and drove the whole country surfing and living out of his van. I'm not sure how much he spent, but he worked odd jobs to fund his adventure. BTW, he always had women with him he met along the way.

The times I've travelled, I always travelled cheap. I never had any problems meeting some awesome people, and hot women as well.
