Pretty Boy?

So there I was, at a bar with a large group of ours. Not sure how long she was there, but there, suddenly is the mother of this girl I want to shag. The mother was staring at me a little and I later find out she said "So who's the pretty boy over there?"

Not that it's vital for me to get a good night sleep or anything, but I'm just wondering if that's some kind of compliment or just the opposite. I would assume if was a guy that said this, say her father, then pretty boy would mean "so who's the fag over there"

Again, not that's it's going to tarnish my self-esteem (although I would like to shag her daughter), but how would you entrepret that?

(And, for what it matters, I was wearing normal clothes, nothing faggy whatsoever)

you should be less concerned with the comment and more concernced with the fact that a mother is trying to get hammered with her, um, daughter...

I take it as a compliment when someone calls me a pretty boy, though they usually do not mean it so.

It wasn't a clubbing type bar, it was more of an "outing". There were people there of all ages (18-60).

Don't always be the one putting yourself out for her. Don't always be the one putting all the effort and work into the relationship. Let her, and expect her, to treat you as well as you treat her, and to improve the quality of your life.

I have to watch what I say as far as details go, I have heard people in person mentioning this site, so I'm trying to remain somewhat vague.

I don't think she said this to her daughter, but to others that she knows are my friends. And I really don't know if she knew who I was or not.

What feeling you got at the time she said that, is probably how she meant it.
I got a good conotation from what you wrote.

just curious Mozart... what state or country do u live in?

Id say go with how you felt when she said it..... but you said that she said it to your freinds?

Over here "pretty boy" is kind of faggy. But she might not have even meant it like that. She might have seen you with her daughter or somehow just knows you and wants to know whats the hype all about.

Just my 2 cents.

It could mean she think your handsome ,or she thinks your ****y and into your looks ,or it could possibly mean she thinks your affeminite.

But who cares? Your into her daughter right?!

It doesn't matter how good-looking you are, how romantic you are, how funny you are... or anything else. If she doesn't have something INVESTED in you and the relationship, preferably quite a LOT invested, she'll dump you, without even the slightest hesitation, as soon as someone a little more "interesting" comes along.

Michigan.

The main reason that I was asking about such a minor comment was that I was wondering if I had taken my little "Personal Renaisance" too far. I was the guy who wrote the thread "Get out of your box (and into hers)" some time ago. So over the last two years I have been changing everything about myself; my car, my build, my socks, my hair..etc.

Everything seems to be going great. Even in this situation (above) I am having a great time flirting with this girl and it's greatly effecting another one (and nooo, not the mom). Then someone says the "Pretty Boy" comment which I haven't heard before and it seemed to have stopped me in my tracks, as if want to approach this lady with a pen and paper and ask her "can you say that again?"

I guess it's funny looking back at yourself (say two years or longer), or at least in my case, at how naive I was, I would wear anything that wasn't stuck to the floor, could kill an industrial size bag of Doritos in one sitting, drove a car that homeless people would shun, a trunk full of beer cans..etc.

So it seems that whatever she meant with the Pretty Boy comment, all of my hard work has paid off.

You probably are a good-looking guy. And i've noticed behavior like this from women .If they consider you atrractive and you 're not really seeing them in a sexual light they seem to react negativley. It's not your fault .That line about hating people because there beautiful is real ,and it's happened to me at everywhere from H.s. to Mcdonalds. It's just jealousy and insecurity on behalf of the women .It's very child-ish and it get annoying it's the grown -up equivalent of being teased by someone who really like you.

That's not the last time your'e going to hear stuff like "pretty boy",or "He thinks he looks good" or a "Who does he think he is?"

If you don't beleive me ,just think about a freind or co-worker that have tried to get with you and you shot 'em down ?How did they react the next time they saw you?

I think by "pretty boy"..they meant a metrosexual..heeh a guy that takes alot of time in preening and taking care of himself..and wearing the trendiest clothes, expensive watches..and ALWAYS looking to impress with their looks

vs

The rugged guy, who rarely bathes..has disheveled hair, dirt in his fingernails, rough hands , dirty jeans etc..

translate it however you want, I dont think it means you look gay, or that she doesnt find you attractive

I just think for women "pretty boy" = a guy that goes to great lengths to take care of his appearance

I think it would have been worse if the daughter had called you a pretty boy... the mom probably meant something different... that you are good looking... but if the daughter had said that, she'd probably have meant that you were ... um... a metrosexual like Starman said... ha ha... although I've heard the terms "Heterogay" or "Fauxmosexual" instead and I prefer those. :D

It's usually a compliment disguised as an insult.

These new pseudo-realistic terms that guys get pigeonholed into, like metrosexual and all that crap is stupid.

Since when is hygeine considered gay? So its gay to keep your nails clean and trim instead of black from dirt and bitten to shreds? Its gay to wear nice clothes? Its gay to wear expensive things? its gay to take showers? Or have a nice hair cut? Pffff

To my knowledge its gay if you like men.

As far as im concerned im not a pretty boy. Im a MUTHA FUCCIN P-I-M-P!

Julian sounds like Juliette..it is a unisex name :D

heh I agree .. I think it says something about women tho..why they need to categorize men as either RUGGED(Masculine) or PRETTY(immasculine)..

Some women LOVE prettyboys/gq/trendy types..some think they are too much like women

""Fauxmosexual""

is this pronounced "Far more Sexual?" or like "Farm o Sexual"?

I was getting called "Boy Band" for a while. Didn't bother me, I basked in it and always hit the dance floor when the dj played Justin Timberlake. I even used it to get a girl in bed.

A universe...where heartbreak and sadness have bee
From an older woman, I'd take it as a come-on.

From a girl...well, it could go either way.

Either way, I smell a mother-daughter threesome! :D
