If any of you are from England you'll be reading about Adnan Januzaj an 18 year old Manchester United player being spread across the paper for taking a girl out for a cheap meal (nandos) and also making her drive and pay for parking as well !

The woman has sold her story to the newspapers and they've produced a piece basically trying to humiliate the lad..

The funny thing is.. I took my current girlfriend there on our first date...

And as it happens I have seen Januzaj in there with his friends..


Any woman with genuine interest isn't that fussed about where you take them, you gotta test your womans quality just as they test yours.. status does play a role and fair play he could have dressed nicer, but if she wants expensive sh1t on the first date its a huge redflag.....

That's interesting. I'm old school and don't mind paying for a first date, either, but I just expect a "thank you." It's not like I date gold diggers but if I nexted every girl that didn't offer to split the check on a first date I'd rarely have second dates. If we meet for drinks or coffee first with the understanding that we are going to dinner after the majority will offer to pay for that and I let them, tho. Do you not find this limits you? I wonder if where you live is different? I had more women offer to pay for dates or split checks when i lived on a major city as opposed to the midsized one I'm in now.

Regardless, that article is funny. Even the writer says at the end that the guy likely dodged a bullet. Haha

I think I was a bit vague.. I expect to pay for the first date.. and i'm pretty certain most women expect the man to take the lead on the first date.. However a major red flag for me is if she makes it clear that you should pay for the date entirely and takes this for granted/entitled to it then its iffy to me, it's more the making it clear than anything else!

It sounds like a contradiction but most women I have taken out have offered to split it, more out of courtesy than anything else, it's more a motion than anything else.

It can swing the other way and them pushing it so it's 50/50 can be a bit iffy as well.

In time there should be a balance and a test i usually put out there is how long it takes for them to insist to pay for a date, showing high interest and proving that to you!

I had my ex say to me... I'm glad you had money when we first met (I had a broke meltdown period.) Or we'd have had to just stay in more and it wouldn't have been the same. If your looking for a stable LTR you gotta be happy to do anything.. I split up with her when I was less willing to take her out as much.

First dates are more like interviews, to a point it doesn't matter where you go, you just gotta be feelin each other!

It sets quite a dangerous precedent tbh. Legally where do you stand if you pay for what you've eaten and then walk off? Or should one just bite the bullet and pay for the meal if they don't have any money and just take it as a lesson learned?

yeah, same happened to me a couple of days ago: I'm quite wealthy (due to my continuous improvement and hard work), I dress sharp, bla, bla, bla. To sum it up, I've got a really good social value. Anyway, a HB asked me out, I said ok. I took her to a good place for drinks (way better than Nando's) and checked her actions carefully. I expected her to offer for drinks as SHE invited me, at least the first round. She acted flirty and was all over me but she didn't even open her handbag or move her hands towards it when the bill came along. After 30 mins, she was covertly suggesting to go to my place. I decided to drop her at the tube station. Her face was priceless. Of course number deleted and next. She failed all the tests. Funny enough before that I asked a friend of mine (completely Beta) what should I do, and he told me "Women never pay!". What an AFC!
