PORNOGRAPHY
Porn has a way of bringing our fantasies (conscious and / or subconscious) closer to life. Jacking off while watching these fantasies gives a person a way to interact with those fantasies. One of the down sides to this type of interaction is that a person can become so use to it’s ease that he doesn’t seek to actively pursue these fantasies with a real live human being. A person only does what he or she has to do to get what he or she wants and no more. Another down side is that some sexual fantasies are illegal. Those fantasies are not portrayed in most porn because they are illegal and so are unavailable. Because of the lack of porn in those areas, persons with such fantasies are unable to interact with them in the privacy of their own homes. A person only does what he or she has to do to get what he or she wants and no more. Are the illegal fantasies already in a person’ head and the porn allows that person a possible form of relief or does illegal porn put the thought in a persons head and encourages that person to act upon them?

Alcohol was illegal during prohibition. Alcohol is now legal. Cocaine was once legal. Now cocaine is legal. It’s illegal to kill cows in India. They are sacred in that country. Cows are not sacred in the U.S. and we eat steaks every day. Right and wrong, in the determination of what’s legal and illegal, are generally a product of where we live and the time period in which we live. There exist a large variety of sexual fantasies in the world. Are the minority fantasies in the minority because those that have them are afraid to express them or are they truly minority views because few really have them? I am personally seeing more gay men and women. Is this group a minority or a silent majority? The same can be said for bestiality, incest, pedophilia, polygamy and sodomy. I can only wonder what our laws governing the acts of sexual behavior will look like hundreds of years into the future of mankind.

Re:

On the one hand, it gives a group of people who wouldn't otherwise find "gainful" employment a means to survive without being a drain on the economy.

On the other hand, they're a drain on society, because the allure of pornography provides an "ideal" type of woman/man, situation, and portrays sex as an act devoid of any human emotion. Anybody who has had sex understands, it "ain't about the nut." Yeah it feels good, BUT, any sane guy would take sliding his c0ck in and out of some pvssy for an hour over nutting in 1 minute. Nutting KILLS the whole purpose of what you're doing. If all you wanted WAS the nut, then a handfull of astroglide provides almost the same sensation without cuddling, diseases, or burdens.

Its debased the value of women. While women have long decried the need for independence, it has had worse effects on their sex than what was purported previously. Now, men on longer see the gentle feminity, motherly qualities, or true romance potential inherent in a woman. Instead, she's a sex object, with little use above a cvm dumpster. Most women can't cook or desire to clean by 18, let alone 21, and barely know how to use credit or finances. They have little to no interest in the arts, and generaly (generally) persue superficial hobbies that up their external qualities.

Is it bad? Absolutely. Most guys won't see the Forrest for the trees though. The degeneration that has utterly lead to the impossibility of a healthy relationship. Sure, porn is fine, to watch, in the context of a relationship, but the rampant widespread sex has no benefited anyone. Maybe men in the short-run, but in the long-run, now, with values in the toilet, what's to stop a person from saying "let's fvck?"

I'll compare it to this. I'm part irish, a small % Irish, but I like a good drink now and then. When I ask most people Under 25 what they're doing on the weekend....the number one answer is:

Partying.

I love to party, WITH friends. It's not a hobby. Drinking profusely gets me nothing, and even the sensation of it lasts for a few short hours, at best. Yet, most people write it into their schedule like it's a hobby.

Why does life seem so hard?

Because people waste time on meaningless 5hit. That's why. If most teens and early 20's weren't boozing on week nights or weekends, they'd be rich, happy, healthy, and laid anytime they wanted. But all the time wasted in earning money for booze, going to the bar, being their, dressing for it, pimping for it, and then the time wasted recovering FROM it, COULD have been used on ANY number of things. Yes we need down time, but a good night of partying easily eats up 12 hours or more, between prep time, recovery, and sleep.

I haven't been a fan of pornography since my teenage years. I'm probably in a minority of guys who actually finds it a turn off.

Personally I see it as another form of political control (like alcohol, smoking, gambling etc). I also believe that the abundance of porn (especially since the rise of the Internet) devalues sex and intimacy, promotes promiscuity and generally has a desensitising effect.

A very valid point and I agree completely. It's no wonder it is so difficult to find a quality woman these days.

I'm not going to deny porn having devalued sex, promoting promiscuity, and having somewhat of a desensitizing effect on some people, but how in any way is porn (or alcohol, smoking, and gambling for that matter) a form of political control?

Am I the only one seeing a pattern here?

Political discussions aren't allowed on these boards so I won't go into too much depth or express any direct political views.

But I personally see these things as ways to keep the population quiet and satisfied while they are being screwed by their country (education, employment, discrimination etc). Instead of revolting and demanding better standards of living, a lot of people merely seek temporary distractions in the form of alcohol, porn etc.

Also, the government is loosening the laws of censorship in the form of porn (and violence), leading many people to think we live in times of liberation, but this is merely a distraction while they take away some of our fundamental rights.

It's very much like Orwell's 1984 where porn, alcohol, chocolate and tobacco is used to keep the proles contented.

I wasn't trying to start a political debate, I was merely wondering why you thought that.

I personally disagree. If anything, the government is doing much more in recent years to lessen the influence of those things. All the FCC crackdowns and fines show this.

Sorry, I wasn't accusing you of starting anything political, but I know I have to watch what I say as I can get a bit carried away. :)

I just notice this a lot as I come from quite a low class town where people have nothing to live for except getting drunk and sexual kicks.
