Suppose you want to plan a getaway with your girlfriend (that you have been dating for 3+ months and has popped the "what are we" question to you).

This is a 3- to 5- day getaway to a city in the same country. You are planning for purchase of flights, car rental, food, excursions and a room.

Who pays for what? Does the guy pay for everything even if the girl offers to pay for some part of it?

She doesnt deserve a trip for 3+ months of putting out imho unless its a trip you were gonna do anyways and you actually want to bring her along. She should pay at least 50% of everything.

Most modern women are recreational use/ plate status only. Unless you found a needle in a haystack, dont take her on trips.

On our recent trip to Missouri with my girlfriend, I covered the flights and car rental, while she took care of most of the excursions and food. We stayed here: https://www.westgateresorts.com/hotels/missouri/branson/westgate-branson-woods-resort/ and split the hotel cost almost evenly. I think it's rlly important to be able to free yourself from these thingies that you think will be awkward. Trust me, it's normal. Everybody pays :)

Always get trip insurance incase she decides she doesn't want to go and you have to cancel the plans. I'd make her book some of the expenses so she has a vested interest.

I've had a few girls pay for almost the entire trip and I barely paid anything. Most of the time I split the bill 50/50.

I'm thinking about booking a trip with a girl I've been seeing for several months now and I will pay for the majority of it. She doesn't have a lot of money, always comes to see me(lives 60mi away), does a lot for me, and I make way more than she does.

Definitely depends on her financial situation. Girl I’m seeing now doesn’t have money for trips like that, I make plenty. I have no problem covering all of it because I actually enjoy my time with her

Why such an extravagant trip? This is a 1 year + type thing, not 3 months...

Why are guys so desperate to jump the gun with things?

Women view these type of things very badly when you do things well before they should happen naturally...

It's viewed as trying to rush the relationship along and makes them think you are desperate or there is something not quite right with you because they are wondering why you would do this that soon.

I guess you defined the relationship as an exclusive boyfriend-girlfriend relationship.

I think 3 months a little too soon for a first trip together. 9-12 months is a better time frame for the first trip, even a long weekend type trip.

Definitely depends on her financial situation.
I think it would depend on her financial situation and whose idea it was for the trip.

I would like to see the woman contribute something financially to this.

Ya that’s true. If it’s her idea then definitely should be paying her half lol I wouldn’t suggest a trip though unless I was ready to pay for the whole thing

Way too soon...this is how women give you the rope to hang yourself as a man. Guys are always like "But she was cool with it or wanted to do it too!"

Yes...of course she did, because she was giving you as much rope as you wanted to see if you'd take a running jump off the building with it around your neck. Too many guys have no concept of how to exercise self control in these situations or what is deemed "appropriate" for length of time they have been dating someone...but rest assured the woman does and she views this as excessive.

I agree with this. I don't think extended trips together are a good idea in the first year together. When the 1 year anniversary nears, the idea of a vacation together would be appropriate. Before that, not so much.

I have seen relationships fail because the couple took a trip together too soon.

I disagree. A lil weekend trip after 3+ months is very appropriate early in a relationship - although 5 days would be a bit much. Starting with a smaller timeframe getaway is fine.

It’s actually pretty crucial to see how compatible you are. Those relationships you’ve seen fail were probably destined to fail, so better to find that out sooner than later.

As close to 50/50 as possible, and hell no with covering the flight. At most cover the room and then all other expenses should be split evenly. This does depend on financials and whose idea the trip was (as others have stated) - but I’d never recommend paying for everything this early.

5 day trip is definitely too much so early into a relationship. But overnight trips are perfect as soon as possible. I'd go on these camping or seaside trips every other weekend myself, so why not just take her with me and have even better time? Ofc, the first time I invite her i will offer to cover most of the expenses, but if she never offers to pay for anything, its a red flag and she's probably not a ltr material. Nexted.
