Just to close:

  • FOOD HAS ALMOST EVERYTHING TO DO WITH ACNE. A group of people go around asking people who don't have spots what they eat, and they all reply "chocolate". Therefore, eating chocolate does not cause acne... seriously, this is how they think. This is an illustrative example, but statistics can be used to tell a million lies. FOOD CAUSES ACNE
  • DO NOT TRY TO WORK OUT A DIET. Its far too tedious. You can cut out all fatty foods etc, but you eat as much as one slice of white bread, and you'll break out again.
  • TREATMENTS STOP ACNE FROM FORMING, THEY DO NOT GET RID OF ACNE. This is EXACTLY why it can take several weeks to "see" the effects. Apply to AFFECTED areas, not to your spots! Don't be stupid! You can only STOP spots from forming, you can NEVER GET RID of existing spots - at least, not easily, cheaply and effectively.

Yes...me. My face is totally clean, except for a few spots, but those are like, microscopic. But when I go to the pool, I'll be pizza faced for the next three ****ing days, then I return back to normal.
...I prefer the sea, which actually makes my face better. Plus suntan is nice too.

cleaning it too much will dry it thus causing a need to release more oil on it thus causing face ****.

diet only effects it if you're allergic to a certain food. tho too much msg may be bad seems to really **** with ur system.

notice how people with clear face touch their face all they want even after they touch a nasty door knob they hav an itch on their face oh let me itch it and yet their face is always clear. they rub it they do watever the **** they want still clear.

could be an infection in ur system. I had some sorta infection in my stomach I took some antibiotics, killed it my face cleared up immediately.

As Nicholas said, diet has everything to do with acne. It's just so complex that there's not much you can do about it. Read the link I left behind in my previous post in this thread.

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.

No matter what you say, acne is NOT caused by bacteria!

Go see your derm thats the best thing you can do. I did that and after trying everything else I was finally put on accutane and I'm currently in my 3rd month and my face is completely clear. It's the best thing I ever did because my face looked like a ****ing pizza before and now it's just a little dry and a little red from the medication but once I'm done with it my face will look perfectly healthy.

Yeah he's right. Accutane contains Isotretinoin which is very effective against acne. Much better than Ben. Peroxide. Isoretinoin is derived from Vitamin A and is manufactured in very minute doses in your liver. The ones you get from Accutane etc. is synthetically manufactured. I have tried Isotrex ( which contains Isoretinoin ) and it has been proven effective for me during several acne outbreaks .

Basically, go to your chemist/pharmacist and ask for any topical acne medication which contains Isoretinoin e.g. Accutane (capsule form). That should do the trick.

Good luck !

ps. Drinking shyt loads of water helps. Aim for a galloon a day .

Most of the advice that was given here applies to personal experience ONLY. Get out of the board and give www.acne.org a visit.

Seriously, quit the dumbass uninformed bull**** posts about how diet is related to acne or this or that doesn't work. Just go to acne.org and do the regimen. It WILL clear you up.

Definitely visit www.acne.org

The regimen that Dan suggested (acne.org founder) is quite efective for a lot of people. It didn't work for me but I've got quite a bit against me (genetics tendency to touch face etc etc).

Personal experience:
Try not to irritate the skin. That means don't use those abrasive wash clothes since they irritate your skin and also sometimes spread the bacteria from your acne across to areas that were previously unaffected.
If you have light or moderate acne just try the regimen at www.acne.org. It has worked fine for a bunch of my friends.

According to various trustworthy sources, sweat doesn't really affect your acne so long as you pat your sweat dry with a clean towel.

If you've got seriously annoying acne like mine, then you definitely need to make a trip to the local dermatologist. Some of them are gung-ho about stuffs like Accutane etc... (pills) trust me try going through with the basic topical treatments like RetinA or Differin. They'll probably reccommend you a combo of RetinA with bendroyl(cna't spell that atm).

Be patient with your regimen. There usually is no quick miracle cures. Wait at least 8 weeks before giving up on a regimen. And don't take accutane unless your acne is totally severe and you're ready to risk it. Its been known to cause vision defects, bone problems etc.

acne.org has outdated information. Read this article, and yes there is a counter point - but through a healthly diet and exercise I have controlled my acne.

http://my.webmd.com/content/article/57/66010.htm

here is a sample-
"We then looked at other studies that examined incidents of acne in similar populations -- South Americans and New Guineans now living in westernized settings," he tells WebMD. "We found that when they become more westernized and start eating like Americans, they do develop acne," he notes. "So it's not genetics."

His advice: Eat foods with a low glycemic index -- a prediction of how much a particular food will raise your insulin levels. Low glycemic foods include lean meat and fish, vegetables, and fruit. A new study is under way in Australia to test the effect that high- and low-glycemic foods have on acne-laden teens.

"This study shows the American people that there is a link between diet and acne and that it is treatable by altering diet," Cordain tells WebMD.
Only time will tell, but I find that junk food makers don't want the word to get out how bad this stuff is for your skin, and pay for 'research' to say it has no effect.

As for food not cuasing acne
That policy -- along with the thinking of Berson and most health experts -- stems largely from studies in the 1960s and 1970s that found no scientific cause for the popular notion (at least by patients) that breakouts occurred after certain foods were consumed.

"One of the ways in which everyone kind of blew off the food connection was because of a paper published in 1969 in The Journal of the American Medical Association examining whether chocolate caused acne," says Cordain. "One group was fed chocolate and another fed a placebo. And lo and behold, the incidences were the same. But the placebo had the same glycemic load as the chocolate - virtually all the ingredients were the same except for cocoa. Bingo!"

Now am 26, had a crater face from 16-19... So know what you feel like...

Many may disagree, but the easiest way to make a pimple last shorter is to apply a couple drops of lemon juice - of course, fresh squeezed!! That will pul out the pimple overnight. I worked - works wonders for me - still have some acne on my back, getting less though. The problem with this is you should not use it on areas, just on pimples.

Another thing is Tea Tree Oil. That one has different effects. sometimes pulls the pimple out overnight, sometimes makes it just disappear. Can be found at Body shop...

For me, the usage of protein supplements and also creatine has caused an outbreak of these things, so now I reverted to natural diet... No complaints on my face for 4-5 years now, except the occasional one pimple, which is no prob.

Washing too much causes dryness, not good, and also causes the face to produce more fat = more pimples. so I agreee with the people here, once or twice a day, after waking up, before going to bed.

Actually my face got alot clearer just not cleaning my face that much, and using the acne spot treatment. I did read a little bit of the regimen back when I posted this, and found that all you needed is the acne spot treatment and a mild soap, and thats al I have been using now.

But yesterday a new pimple came up right on my cheeck and its huge. Its the only pimple I have had in months...besides the other, bumps on my face, which I dont think are pimples.

I think my face also got clear because I got on a low carb diet, and I just eat meats and no sweets at all.

What are these spots on my face... they are very little, when I squeeze them dry-hard puss comes out of it. They are like bumps with very little diameter or height. My chin has like... big pores but instead of pores they are bumps filled with white little worms that come out when I squeeze it..... weird.

It might increase skin's water-retention in some people, pinching off even more sebum canals. Try it and see if it helps or makes acne worse.

Try putting some Lavender Oil on any scars, it has worked wonderfully for me.

When I get spots I smother them in Tea Tree Oil and after they've subsided, I change to Lavender Oil.
