ok, so recently i was talking about the urge to get married.

i just had a perfect experience that puts that urge in context.

i bought a new computer today. dual core processor and vista - the whole shebang.

i get it home, spend hours loading it up with my various programs. then i start to use it. and you know what? IT SUCKS!

my 4 year old computer runs faster and performs better running XP than this brand new expensive computer running vista.

so tomorrow im going to return the piece of sh*t and get my money back.

so what did i learn?

you might THINK something is better than what you have. but sometimes, its not. it looks better. it costs more. its newer. SURELY it must be better - but sometimes its not.

so i wasted an entire day on something that turned out to be a total waste of my time.

marriage is the same thing. when your single it might seem like having someone is better, but sometimes its worse than what you already have.

thankfully i can return the computer and get my money back. no such luck if you pick the wrong woman.

anyway, just thought id share today's experience with you all.

maybe you just weren't ready for Vista yet or knew how to use it to its potential. :)

Relationships generally aren't all they are cracked up to be when you factor in the negative aspects, I agree. Throw in the RISKS involved when you start talking marriage, and the proposition becomes even more unattractive. HOWEVER......

Humans are social animals. You and I both desire (more like NEED) social contact to survive. And it goes beyond just hanging out with your buds....you need intimacy from a member of the opposite sex. It doesn't have to be there every day of your life, but you need to experience it and when you don't have it you tend to miss it. That casual encounter you had with the chick you picked up at the bar last night doesn't go very far to fulfill those needs.

That's my problem right now. Women everywhere, but not a single one that is worthy of anything more than that casual encounter that leaves you with a void. Your PHYSICAL needs are met, sure, and the physical contact might be a little more than just a wham-bam-thank you-maam, but unless you are in a relationship with some sort of future or a commitment, you might think you can fill up your tank with one night stands and STR's, but at the end of the day you aren't gonna get much mileage.

Maybe some people lead a fulfilling life without real intimacy. But as much as I say I DON'T want anything like that right now, I know that eventually the rock star lifestyle is gonna get old and I will probably be the kind of person who will need something a little more fulfilling.

Good post. I'll have to come back to this later. Hopefully everyone else jumps in.

Maybe all the hours you spent on your new computer, you put your new computer on a pedestal and it got a princess attitude. Next time you get a new computer, try to be more of a challenge.

Dude, you know you have to turn it on first right?

Never try to read a woman's mind. It is a scary place. Ignore her confusing signals and mixed messages. Assume she is interested in you and act accordingly.

Your perfect analogy sucks cause there isn't really a beneficial switch from XP to Vista. Which is the same from dating one Paris Hilton (for your weak analogy: The XP computer) and then dating Britney Spears (the Vista computer). You get the same dumb b1tch.

My analogy is superior:

Try one computer: MS DOS (To all the original REAL computer users, you know what I'm talking about) 5.0, then you go..alright low maintenance. Then Win 3.1...Nice looking but got problems. etc etc, Linux, OS X, OS 2 Warp. You try each computer OS till you find one that works the way you want it to or one that doesn't give you the most problems.

That's my real perfect analogy.
