and those people are called loser psychos....revolving thier life on their obession for a book or movie is just sad...very sad, ill bet some people even go out and tattoo harry potter on their a$s-crack too...maybe even star wars, i wouldnt be surprised... i remember working at the movie theatre, people would wait in line for midnight showings of the new star wars or lord of the rings, or matrix movie and come all dressed up and in character...some people out there are just retarded like that.

Hahahaha, I just thought of something. I agree about people coming to the movies dressed in costume, that's just stupid.

You could do "drive-by-movie-spoilers" with a big megaphone. People would go nuts. It would probably be as bad a drive-by shooting for some.

Some spoiler runs in various places.

I was at waterstones last night(I was out drinking with buddies) and got my brother to txt me the spoilers from the online leaked version, so I shouted out to them some of the important spoilers.
One woman got in my face with this "You realize there is a queue here, and you should be at the back" so I go to her "Oh ok, I'm not here to get the book but did you know... voldemort kills snape, hedwig dies on page 58, fred weasley dies page 637" lol she wasn't very happy.
lmao at those kids shouting spoilers

There's no harm in it. They're fun books with something in them that anybody of any age will enjoy. And I doubt the books would have such a huge following if the entire series was released at once instead of one book every other year.

Admittedly, I did get in line at 10h00 at Barnes and Noble on the night of the release and I was actually able to purchase the book at 1h45am, and read the whole thing in 9 hours. I was crazy about the books in middle school but my tastes have moved on since then. Still, I grew up with Harry, in a way; I was 11 when I read the first book at 19 when the last came out.

And regardless of if you like the books or not, it's quite rare these days to see so many people get this excited about reading a book. People obsess over tv shows but good books go sadly unappreciated.

Now that's a good book! That book taught me how to be a man.

Releasing the books every other year instead of all at once? That's just called good marketing. Yes, a lot of good books sadly do go unappreciated but the reason is because there is no hype, ballyhoo, and commercialism around them. Harry Potter appeals to the lowest common denominator and that is why it sells.

It's rare these days to see people getting excited over books because there just aren't many good ones being written these days. And by good, I mean on it's own merits. The whole thing about "getting children to read by reading Harry Potter" was just another tactic of marketing psychology aimed at the adults. The pop psychology that goes with "fad and trendiness" was aimed at the kids and teenyboppers so that they could get their parents to give them money for it.
