so tonight i had to ask my son if he had cross country practice friday night because his father wants to know what time to pick him up for visitation.

he says "oh i might be going out"

son: "girl"

son:"nope"

so i tell him to call his father.
i guess he updates his father on his news, cause his father asks "taking a cab?":crackup:

son is 15... the chick he asked out is 14... she says she has to ask her daddy first.

i'm not ready to chauffeur kids on dates.
i'm not an old lady yet!:crackup:

and most importantly... am i expected to pay for this?

We were I think 13 or 14... we met at the movies.. and saw some Denzel Washington movie... where he was a son to a white father. I don't remember the movie too much.. but I do remember her breath kinda stunk. lol ...we just held sweaty hands.

the 12 yr old boy got his first kiss last week at a school dance. the girl now races to kiss him everyday before he gets on the bus to leave.

the 15 yr old wants to learn to drive and date and go to football games and run cross country.

they are so growing up!

Why should you pay for his dates?! he is 15, he can go bag groceries or deliver newspapers for extra dough.

You should introduce him to the souave bible or at least give him some good sound advice (if he asks), you don't want him turning AFC because this 14 year old midriff is going to mess with his head.

damage - i had a talk with him last night. i told him that if he wants to meet some little girl up at the football game or the skating rink or movies and he just needed money for himself, that was one thing that was reasonable.
however, asking me to cart them around all night in my vehicle and pay for his way of dating a girl was unreasonable.
i told him that it's one thing to be meeting up to do stuff and another to be actually dating and that i thought if he was man enough to date, he should be driving and working to afford it.
i am actually going to make some ground rules over the weekend for this stuff.

I am still disturbed by the fact that a man my age can have a grown ass son. I couldn't imagine having a kid who is almost a high school senior. That is just crazy. I never realized how old I was until I read this thread.

I think that sounds great. It's hard to make a young man understand that, as his mother, you'll be supporting him no matter what, but that part of your duties as said mother is to teach him responsibility and how to fend for himself. It's sometimes difficult to get the blend good enough so that it'll be palatable for the young man, best of luck!
