Hey guys,

I go running every two days. The problem is that after only 10-15 minutes I start feeling pain in the front part of my leg (between the knee and the foot). It feels like the bone is aching, but who am I to know.
It goes away sometime after I stop.

Anyone has been through something similar? Is this normal?
How do I get rid of this?

Thanks,
Hedgehog.

Sounds like shin splints. All you can do is rest them, but it can take 2-3 weeks for them to go away if they go away at all. I think they're caused by a combination of the following things:
Running on hard surfaces(like concrete/asphalt)
Genetics(me and my two siblings get them, none of us are overweight either)
Switching running surfaces(like between grass and concrete)
Overtraining

Agree w/ chim-chim, sounds like shin splints. They suck, and can hurt like hell. I quit running b/c I began to ache more all over doing it than not.

Running is the most fukkin destructive activity on your joints/bones in the legs for sure.

If you must do cardio, try swimming out, if that is an option for you, unless you just love to run I guess.

Ibuprofen does work though on shin splints. Taking 2-3 before you run will make you oblivious to the pain. :)

shin splints

i used to have those when i played lacrosse.. it sucked.. i would run the mile or 2 and then while i was standing there it felt like my legs would turn to jelly on me and i had a really weird aching feeling in the front.. someone suggested taping my calf so the muscle would not detach from the bone as much as it was

I don't think that taping your calf would help at all. The only treatments are really ice, rest, and/or ibuprofen.

Look up "shin splints" on webmd.com or something, it should answer most of your questions.
