have you guys been in a depressive state before? what worked for you?

since my granny died, and i dont have a job (being trying to find one but it' not easy) my life went downhill,no girl either. I was working out but i lost the will and its 4 weeks since i dont hit the gym. i m skinny, pale, no joy, it's like im dying a little everyday. I was doing a cutting diet and lost 16 kilos because i was very fat, but i guess something went very wrong and now im skinny as **** and physically and mentally weak, i'm skin and bones, i lost my beer belly but at what cost? maybe it's an anemic state, maybe depression i dont know. i have mood swings, i sleep a LOT, and the more i sleep the more i want to sleep, im always anxious and irritated, specially with women. i dont even want to go clubbing nor to take a simple cofee with a friend cuz i dont want women to see me in this state.

how did you guys overcame this? anyone? i just wanna live and get some joy. **** doctors and shrinks, they just want your money and spit their bull**** theories, they didnt helped me before

i know i said some weeks ago i was retiring from game, now you guys know why

Overcoming depression is not easy(obviously) I too sleep a lot..get addicted to the internet, and oh man.. I get extremely irritated all the time..
I'm probably not the best one to give advice on this, but I do know what it is like.. trust me I do..

I will keep a look on this thread, and it is brave of you to want to talk about it... it means you have not given up. Always remember that it is hard to overcome, however it "can" be overcome, and you "can" be happy. That's what I think about when I feel that all hope is lost.

I feel for you, bro, and you have my support.

Also.. why not just work at an ordinary job for now?... I like to work, because it takes my mind off the negative thoughts.. Anything is better than nothing.. You'll feel better when you are working, plus you won't be able to sleep and your mind will be focused..

First off...dealing with depression takes time. If its just mild to moderate depression, do your best to man up and work through it. If it's severe seek professional help.

For mild to moderate. First off, exercise. Even if you don't feel like it. Can't go to the gym? Do push ups and crunches and go for a walk/run. Every day. Despite if you want to or not. If you continue with exercise it will help.

Secondly make a list of things you want to do/change. I personally find that my depression comes from not having goals and not completing the ones I do have. Start with the easy ones, clean your room, take a shower, get a hair cut..what ever is easiest. This will boost up your confidence on getting things done.

Socialise. Get out with any friends you have and try to get your mind off your problems. Go somehwere with people you feel comfortable with. Even if its just family.

Stay away from drugs, alcohol, junk food and negative people. They will help keep you down. Do some new things you've never done before. Go shoot guns, or bungee jump or try go somewhere new. Get out and explore your world.

Do positive affirmations daily and meditate. Also pray if you are a religious person. Pray for others as well. Tithe if you are a member of a church.

Volunteer. Help out people less fortunate than you. It will help you put your own problems in perspective.

Depression is something you have to want to overcome. You have to man up and fight thru it. Don't think about these things above. JUST DO THEM, even if you don't feel like it. Thinking will keep you down. Action is how men generally overcome depression. Remember it takes time to get over it. If you do these things for a month or two (or three, it does take time)and you still find youself horribly depressed you might want to seek professional help.

I'm no doctor but these are the things that I did in the wake of my divorce to get me out of a horrible depression. I tried the drinking, drugs(prescribed and street) and partying but it just made things worse. I had to make a change in my life and my mindset to get to where I am now. I feel the most confident, happy and secure in myself than I ever have in my life. At times I might feel sad, I allow myself to feel it, but I don't dwell on it or let it bring me down. Good luck.

I agree with this fully.. I took up mountain biking, but not on actual mountains haha. It really takes the edge off when you're out in the woods and open trail through the field...

Yeah..exercise really makes you feel better, and helps to beat the bad thoughts.. I should do more myself. I agrre with Warrior74, and I strongly suggest you do some type of exercise activity...outdoors if possible.

I know this sucks man, but it can be done..hang in there.

Dude I was just like you about 9-10 years ago. IMHO you just have to keep on trucking and fighting the power. Keep at it as hard as you can and eventually something will give. First things first: you have to find a job ASAP. Without some money, you will be hard pressed to do much else. (Girl, car, new house, etc)

hey, I am in a similar situation to this, and oh god do I know what you are talking about with the getting irritated. Jesus, I snap at everything! Everything annoys me, its terrible, I juat cant lighten up. I must be hell to be around. I dont have many answers for you, I think it comes down to taking action, thereis no easy way out of this shiit we are in, it calls for drastic life changing action. The bungee jump idea is great, something I have been thinking about recently, and I might just set myself that goal at some point.

Warrior, I was inspired by your post, it was great toread that you are so happy and confident now, that you have worked through it. With depression it is easy to think that it will never change. Its great to hear that others have done it. Anyone else come through depression here?
