Change the country for the 1%

This is only for white Canada anyway.... all these new rules are really just a F U for WHITE MEN. Do Muslims, Chinese, Africans or any of the other new immigrants give a sh1t about our national anthem or six gender or any of that? No. Its not their country, why would they care.

They're changing the word "sons" to "us"

It's not really about this, it's about altering our country, our history, and our patriotism.

Let's look at the US national anthem...

O say can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there;
O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner, O! long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,
A home and a country, should leave us no more?
Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave,
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

O thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war's desolation.
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the Heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: 'In God is our trust.'
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

The thing was written in 1814 and hasn't had any modifications. It looks like it's written in an ancient language, and it is! But you know what? Americans fvcking love it. They haven't removed God from it or anything. It's there as raw as it always was, and that's a good thing. There would be a lot of pissed off people if anybody even suggested to change it.

Then there's Canada. Our national anthem has been fvcked with as much as our modern day women.

I don't want to offend anyone but unlike the U.S., Canada isn't a real country...and it never has been. First, we were a colony of the French, then a colony of the British, then an [economic] colony of the United States. Now that the American economic and cultural power has started to wane, Canadians no longer have a powerful master to look up to and they are very confused.

Dont forget that the french people in Quebec always want to secede and form their own nation. This same old song and dance with them is decades old. They never will though, why? Because those people are used to mooching off everyone else because they love socialism. They would be unable to survive because they then don't have access to everyone else's money in the rest of Canada. It also isn't helping that Alberta now has an openly communist government running the province.

I see that same crap in Switzerland, a country I admire because of how they run their economy and generally their culture is pretty strong within people who are born there. But liberalism knows no borders. It fluorishes in nations that have some reasonable levels of safety within law because any nation where liberals start running their mouths yet dont have to bow to a politically correct culture, those people would simply be disappeared. But now Switzerland wants to change their anthem? I had a lot of respect for the Germanic peoples, including the Swiss, but as time goes on with liberalism spreading from one generation to the next, the culture is plagued with this cancer and it can't endure like this.

Hey I am from Québec, probably that's why I don't know the Canadian anthem.

The separatist stuff is true but it's everywhere. Canada is Québec culture (80% of cultural products: movies, plays, songs, artists) come from Québec. English Canada is a sub-division of the USA. Anyway, Canada faces constant identity fight...

This creates who we we

But every federation has identity issues: California and Texas have separatist movement. Switzerland too.

The modification is right in my opinion however.... how can you have a modern country when your constitution and anthem says "God is almighty"

Modernity comes with changes. Some changes take longer or need a push

The comparison to USA: agreed the USA was written by visionary... but that God motto gotta go

Would you have argued against abolishing slavery, on the basis it would have altered our country, history, and patriotism?
