Okay, synopsis:
I'm planning on asking out a girl whom I go to high school with. She is very intelligent (I believe she has a 4.3 or above as a Sophmore, at a college prep school, which is actually supposedly the 59th best HS in the country, but I digress) She is also very musically talented, last summer she spent four weeks in Germany where she was given a scholarship to go to a music college for Piano. On top of that, she is very nice, and exceedingly beautiful.
She has, I think, for a fairly long while been interested in me. That by no means indicates that I am quite as amazing, more that there is limited selection in our school and she and I are a good match as it seems.

Finally, she and I have an ongoing joke about the whole Mac vs PC debacle. I personally am very highly pro PC's, I dislike many of Apple's moves both in hardware and software development. She however, has a father who works for apple, and thus is very Pro-mac.

So here's what I want the opinion on. I wanted to do something kind of clever to ask her out, something memorable and sweet, as she hasn't dated anyone before to the best of my knowledge. My plan was to create a brief stop motion animated film, which involved an Apple (symbolizing that I have transcended my dislike for Jobs in my feelings for her) rotating around to reveal a hole in the shape of a heart. In this whole would be a note, which would unfold, carrying a note which I would obviously write my (most likely sappy) message upon.

Do you think that is a cute idea? I know it'll be a fair amount of work, but I love to do videographic stuff and my friend has offered to help me. Thanks in advance!

If she's into you man, anything could work. Though this seems more like an anniversary kind of thing to me, it would be awesome as that.

Also, remember that you don't always have to sound intelligente.

Yeah do that if you want, it is cute and sweet and girls do like that stupid sh!t even though they may not so it. Deep deep inside they love it, you may hear that she said it was lame but she doesn't think that. Thought i'd just get that point across.

The only thing you got to watch out for is what you say in the note, maybe you should post what your going to say on the forum and get some opinions on it before you go ahead.

You two talk a lot of **** about your schools' rankings. Until, someone who goes to THE top school academically and athletically comes by...heh

That's cool and all. But the way it came off in your posts seemed a little ****y and unnecessary.

And, in regards to your plan. I tried something like that two years ago. It sounded great to my friend and me at the time. But, now i regret it a bit. It really depends on what you write though. I came off as quite an AFC. I have a copy of what i sent her, and every now and then i'll read it simply to get a good laugh.

So choose your words carefully

It worked! In fact, she seemed to really appreciate it =)

Jeff, Im sorry if I came off as being arrogant. I didn't mean to... I was just meaning to establish her character as best I could.

OBC, awesome. Which highschool is that?

First off, it's OTB ;)

But back to your original question blacksham,
It's Staten Island Technical High School ---> The best school in New York City! :D

Here's the Wikipedia page on it:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Staten_Island_Technical_High_School

A quote from the article itself:
It consistently ranks among the best schools in New York City in graduation rate, Regents test scores, and attendance. In its most recent progress report, the New York City Department of Education assigned it the highest possible grade of "A" and ranked it the best High School in the city according to academic performance.

my question is why is your public high school so fancy pancy when some of the other public high schools in NYC are falling apart with massive drop-out rates, lack of teachers, and lack of funding. Why is yours different? is it a charter school?

I come from the same school. Trust me, it's lacking funds just like the rest of them here. OTB, what's your name?
