I sort of see your point. But The fear is the fear of rejection. If you face rejection head on then it will no longer be scary to you. it's not avoiding your fear, it's facing it head on so that when it happens it's not such a shockcsycpr said:I can understand the reasoning applied here, but I think the real reason behind it is still FEAR. You're not really getting over your fear, you've just found another way to AVOID it.
Nevertheless, I don't want to speak too soon -- this might work. If you try it, let us know how it went.
Also, at the end of the day, even if suboptimal, it's still better than doing NOTHING at all.
I've always had major approach anxiety, but usually when I get into the conversation, i'm all good. The way I see this is like boxing training. The only way to get over the fear of getting punched in the face is to get punched in the face a few times. Sure, you can and should throw a few punches back, but after you are no longer afraid of getting hit, your combos will flow smoother and you'll be able to think better
