You don't have to do the "pull the chair out" thing in the restaurant, or any other chivalrous acts, but the car door thing is golden.
*Smacks self in head* Yaargh, I forgot about the "pull the chair out" move. I can just see this sparking a new series of tactics by DJs doing things like throwing their jackets down in puddles for women to walk over.

You're right about the car door test. It has become obsolete. In fact, we need to come up with a replacement. ;)
Hmm, yes we do. Maybe we could lend them a pen and see if they return it.

Gentlemen, I feel like I have been fully deceived and lied to! I've been here all these years and everyone has been telling me how women prefer jerks and women want @ssholes, and how the worst you treat them the better they like it, and how you should be a bad boy, and treat girls like your bratty little sister, and how times have changed and the old ways of the knighthood don't apply in today's world, and how you should make women work for every kindness, and don't buy them drinks, and don't be a white knight and all. Deep breath.

And all along in real life you guys have been practicing chivalry! You've been closet chivalrists! But not once did anyone say "Zekko, you should try opening doors for women, they love it". What else around here has everyone been lying about?

By the way, the door test? Lol, that used to actually mean something in my day when you actually had to manually unlock the doors. Not so much now.

Everything has it's place. To random bar trash i'm typically a **** all the rules apply, if it's a girl I know that already lays me i'll open a door to feel her up in the process, sure. Only time I give flowers to my declared GF is valentines day and even then i'll only have them delivered to her job so she's not the only one that didn't get flowers. You'll never catch me taking flowers to a girl, I just think it's so corny. I don't follow all the supposed rules you see here to the letter at all that's for sure. To me the point is that it's important to say NO to a girl and put her in her place whenever you want to. Always be ready to drop her like a bad habit and make sure she knows that. If you can get those points across crystal clear you can be nice to her and she will appreciate it immensely.

^Bingo in bold.

Then and only then do the open doors and flowers come.

I don't think so.

Open her door old school style with your key. Slowly walk around and appear to be fiddling with your keys to open your own. She'll figure it out.

If she likes you enough she'll bend over backwards.

If she asks tell her your power locks are on the fritz. Or even make mention of it before you open her door.

or you can be like me and drive a car old enough that it actually doesn't have power locks.

It doesn't matter how good-looking you are, how romantic you are, how funny you are... or anything else. If she doesn't have something INVESTED in you and the relationship, preferably quite a LOT invested, she'll dump you, without even the slightest hesitation, as soon as someone a little more "interesting" comes along.

Dear Mountain Man,
Glad to hear you run an old car...You save so much money and have a far more useful vehicle...A friend has a very respectable French vehicle, the drivers door power locks gave up first, then the passengers door,at which point he investigated options...Seems the Locking mechanism was welded to the door and he needed two new doors...this means a respray of his car...he sold this lovely car for parts...
Last week I had problems with my Ford Station Wagon, the sun gears dropped a few teeth...cost me $50 for a second hand diff and a days very unpleasant work...but it is done and going very well,it did about 380.000 miles on the old one,not bad huh?...just think what that would cost me in a modern car with the diff chucked in with everything else?
