i dont have a problem with meeting people on the internet and hooking up and whatnot, but honestly i think the whole online dating thing is kinda lame

however i can definitely understand why ppl who dont really have much free time and stuff like that would do it

its the strangers that give us carriage rides that make small talk and stuff. they say how did you meet? we figure its funny to tell strangers we met on an internet forum where men discuss women and dating and rant and rave and there is a few hundred guys and a handful of chicks on here.

Not if you're a late GenX or early GenY teenager...

It's a generation thing. Most guys/girls my age see internet dating as really weird.

It doesn't matter how good-looking you are, how romantic you are, how funny you are... or anything else. If she doesn't have something INVESTED in you and the relationship, preferably quite a LOT invested, she'll dump you, without even the slightest hesitation, as soon as someone a little more "interesting" comes along.

I find it amusingly ironic that Match.com calls their new product "Chemistry" when that's about the only thing it doesn't take into account.

That's the thing: in my case, it almost always has (chuckling mirthlessly). See typical stats below.

Somehow, in person, eye contact, charisma, and kino can obliterate things (mostly matters of "laundry list" incompatibility) that have almost always derailed online contacts before step 3 ("Arrange First Meeting"). And those few times an online contact got past that to actually meeting, the essential chemistry just wasn't there.

Meeting in real life establishes the chemistry first, and those petty little "laundry list" items all of a sudden don't look so important.

Im with you on this...The only way to get noticed on myspace is you gotta take pics of yourself damn near naked...Im not taking pics like that of myself cause you never know who will see it, plus im not gonna cheapen myself to get online broads, you dont have to walk around with no shirt on in real life to get girls...Everyone that I know that has broads requesting them has at least one pic like that...I get requested by the fat busted white broads that have like 2,000 black dudes on their list and people trying to run scams and sh1t, lol...

This describes an ex of mine from a few years back. She had a virtual army of AFC's who would e-mail her and instant message her every day. One time I signed in with her account and got IM's from 20 different guys in 5 minutes and her Inbox was flooded with AFC mail. She would put "in relationship" in her profile and the AFC's still wouldn't relent. This experience has completely turned me off to IM and email as sarging communications.

I've tried online dating. Over the past 5 years I've met around ten women off the net and never went on more than 2 dates with any of them. Most of the girls I met were blind dates that turned out to be FUG's. One girl lied to me and told she didn't smoke and when she admitted to me that she did I tossed her number in the garbage. Another was a single mom who never told me she had a kid.

If a woman starts to "beat around the bush" next her. The best advice I can give is to get a picture first and qualify them as quickly as possible. If I havn't gotten a number close by the end of the second or third email exchange I always next them because for me time is money.

However, these girls do have some men they choose out of the 1000's of emails and IMs. They choose the guy b/c of an initial attraction usually from the photo or the subject of the email catches her attention. Stand out as much as possible by being excellent and cast out a large net.
