I had given up on online dating. My pictures were getting a
ratings in the low 7's;one was an 8. I got very few responses, and almost all uggs. I thought I was too plain looking.

Some how I got lured back into it, and started manipulating the pictures with the software that came with my digital camera. I now have a picture with a 9, a 8.9 and an 8.4. And I am getting responses from hot women.

A professional photographer who does marriage photo's and **** is not going to get you these types of photos. The skillset required is a graphic artist using something like Adobe Photoshop.
You can learn it yourself but it does take some time.

You can download a free version for free (for 30 days) at Adobe's web site.

You can make your picture come alive. Good photo's are mostly about lighting and you can manipulate that with Photoshop.Add a sun tan, add a background. I took a 7.2 picture and made it into a 9.

Very interesting. Can you provide some exmaples, i.e. pics "before" and "after"?
What is the concept of light that you add to the pics?

Alright, this thread was interesting in the other part of the forum but it's fvcking ironic to see a thread encouraging misrepresentation in "The Mature Man" forum....

It's not about lying. It's about making yourself look the way you look when you look your best.

Really good photos are about lighting. With Adobe photoshop, you can change the lighting. You can change the midtones, lowtones and hightones. It makes the picture look much more vivid-especially with landscapes.

What I did:

1)Added color saturation to create a suntan.
2)Changed lighting to add depth and contrast to facial features.
3)Took (some) yellow out of my teeth and added (some) whiteness.
4)Added sharpness to the image to make things more vivid and alive.
5)added (some) whiteness to the whites of my eyes to make them stand out. Women use eye shadow to make their eyes look bigger (adding whiteness on a digital photo does the same!)
5)sometimes added backgrounds (beach, NYC skyline)

The trick is to enhance how you look but not to misrepresent yourself. Don't go overboard.

And francisco you've got a lot of good insight on other topics but it sounds to me like you're not a graphic artist. So you don't understand what can be done to enhance a photo. I posted this thread because it got me results. Enough said.

I've used Photoshop enough at work to understand what it's capable of doing. And yes, changing your photos may have gotten you results. However, this site isn't about gaining results through subterfuge, it's about taking the time and doing the work on yourself to achieve success. Maybe you should consider posting your success on a graphic arts site since your suggestion is as you put it, geared for a graphic artist...

Pics are even most important part of the profile than its text part.
We talk about what to write... why not to talk about what and how to show yourself?

So, why not post to your profile a picture of your best bud that gets all the girls by just his looks?

I wasn't going to go that far, but hey why not? It's just the Internet, right? you just want to get your foot in the door? Hell, you don't even need Photoshop to do it! Great idea!

I think having average quality pictures where you really look good to be the better option for getting responses. You know pics that are natural and not retouched.

I hate seeing super professional glossy or manipulated pics. What a turn off. Sometimes, women ask me for more pictures of better quality. Its like they admit my pics interested them but they want to see what I'd look like in a glamour shot without my shirt on or want to make sure I have all my teeth. I always blow these b%tch$s off and never respond back. If they show themselves to be that superficial initially or sometimes date men without teeth, I don't want anything to do with them. lol.

Online is so sterile already without manipulating your profile and pics. Retouched photos just seem so desperate and phony.

This is why I avoid profiles of women who only use photos by Glamor Shots. Nothing against the photographers, they just do their jobs a bit too well.

So what do you guys think of Hot ot Not? Don't you feel your ratings are going to be somewhat skewed due to all the bored screwballs who have nothing better to do but mess with you mind? Or are they sincere?

Cool! I like the creative part. You hair is fine.. but if you make it smoother...it would be better.

Why do you think average pic are better? It is like an verage profile is better than a good one. maybe I missed something?

No one is talking about professional glossy pics.
manipulated - yes, but to teh extent when no one can this it was retouched.

It depends what kind of pics you have... if they are dark, and it is hard to see your face... I guess their request would be legit...
I have seen some women's profiles: they post 3-4 pics with their bunnies-shmannies and we can see her only somewhere in teh background. No face is visible at all... often you can't even guess her body type. So it all depends. Would you show you pic on which they say "I want more of your pics"?

You know I just had the following thought:

Black and white photos that many musicians or actresses get for head shots would be great. I've never seen them not make someone look amazing.

Maybe I'll go to a studio to get some done!
