Since there are so many threads going around on myspace, i'll share an opener I field (um.. myspace) tested a few times. Its not phenomenal, just decent. Just don't overdo it guys, or it kind of loses its value lol.

"I'm sure you get bombarded w/ letters from guys everyday like "you're so hot" and crap I just thought you seemed like a cool person I'd like to get to know."

Some hot girls said "that's sweet" and added me. Many didn't reply (but then again those are the ones that don't reply to anything probably) If anyone decides to field test it tell me how it goes.

Careful w/ that one. You almost make it seem as if you're not a confident guy. Talking about one of her interests might start you off on a better footing.
Try: "I'm sure you get bombarded w/ "you're so hot" and and such but I thought it's really cool that you play guitar too. Do you write songs?"

"Guitar" can be replaced w/ whatever her interest is but at least you have something to build on that she wants to talk about.

My bro does the 'hood' approach of:
"Hey ma' I saw your profile and I found you interesting (*key word*) hit me up sometime maybe I can get to know you better"

My nephew does the "simple" approach
Hi, i saw your profile and its interesting (*key word*) that we have a lot in common."
Then he just picks one random thing out of her profile and he's he does it too..

They both have about a 60 percent success ratio now. They tried it without using 'interesting' and it dropped down to about 25-30 percent success. The mysterious factor of saying that something is interesting always peaks interests of the opposite sex
