Ok, this is probably an easy question, and I should know the answer, but apparently I don't. I've read the DJ Bible, and I don't recall this being in there. I know you are supposed to wait 5 days before calling a girl and all. Here is what's going on. I met this chick who works at a club, while I was at the club (she was on the clock). She was real cool and was hinting that she wanted to go hang out after she got off work (this woulda been at like 5:30am!). My buddies were ready to go, so she asked me for my number, and then she gave me hers. I haven't called her yet, but she called me. I was in class and did not answer, but she did not leave a message. Should I call her back tonight, or wait a few days. More specifically, do you guys even return a phonecall if the person doesn't leave a message?

She is doing what we as DJ's would recommend. She tried to get ahold of you and didn't leave a message. This is the DJ recommended step.
I wouldn't call her back immediately. The ball is in your court. You didn't even have to mention the obvious that she called. You could call her the next day in this case. Her IL seems high.

So you are saying that if a DJ calls a girl and gets her machine, he does not leave a message?
I dunno, but to me that kinda seems like something an AFC would do. The reason I say this is b/c a few months ago this girl called me and I didn't answer. She didn't leave a message. Well the next day she called me again, and it just seemed kinda desperate to me, I don't know why...
I prefer to leave a message if she doesn't answer. If she doesn't call me back, then I know she isn't interested enough to waste my time on.

Real dumb question here, but I dialed *69 which I thought blocks the call, but got no confirmation. So I decided not to call this particular girl tonight.

Well, I tried doing the *67 + the number and it connected me to my cellphone companies operator. I asked the operator if he knew what to punch in to block my number from caller ID and he said he didn't know. So I decided to call like normal. She didn't answer, I got the machine. I didn't leave a message, and she hasn't attempted to call me back (only been 1 day). How long should I wait before making the 2nd attempt?

Bro its not that hard to block your caller ID. Read your manual. Most phones you just go to Settings. Should be a feature that says Phone Settings or something of that sort. Then it will mention caller Id.
I'm referring to cell phones only, I NEVER call HB's from my house phone.
And since you didn't block your number I'd wait 2 days before calling back. Did you give her you number? Because I know I never answer phone calls when I don't recognize the number.

If you want to see this girl, call her, get a hold of her, and ask her out. There's no telephone formula that's going to help or break your chances, only all this worrying and overanalyzing will do that. If you get her machine, leave a message saying Hi, it's DJZ, I'll call you later. Or something. It's not rocket science.

Why didn't you call her when you got out of class? Its not like you are trying to build suspense and her IL in you. Its already there... she called you. You could've just called her back and said " Hey, I was in class, you called me... ". She was in the frame of mind to call you and talk to you.
So she didn't leave a message, big deal! A lot of people just don't like leaving messages for whatever reason. Make a joke out of it "You didn't leave a message so I wasn't sure which girl had called..."

Well, my initial reaction was to call her when I got out of class, but then I considered that she didn't leave a message. I didn't want to call her back 30 minutes after she called and be like "hey girl I'm returning your call even though you didn't leave a message"...I was afraid that would come across as desperate and lower her IL.
I was seeing this girl a few weeks ago and I caller her one night. She didn't answer, I didn't leave a message. I hung up the phone and 3 minutes later she called me back, told me she was at the library. At that point I was 100% positive she wanted me, so it lowered my IL a little.
Well, that's a good idea, and I should have returned her call then and pretended like I didn't know which girl, or who it was. Ohh well...
It had already been 4 days at the time she attempted to contact me.
