My brother used to have really bad acne and so did a friend. They both went to the doctors and got some sort of pills and they are acne free now.

yes but the problem with those pills is that they cause hair loss, on your head. Really uncool. In some cases nothing happens, but it sucks if you're in the % that does loses hair ! I had it bad, almost took the pills out of desperation. But there's some really good cleaning products now, ask your dermatologist (not doctor). I had something like uhm, a big tube, had to wash my face clean, it would drie it out or something (that's what the pills do, but from the inside-out) and then after that take this little tube, and put some of that after washing and drying, which would restore the moist balance, this didn't make the old ones disappear, but slowed down the new ones coming out :p It was all downhill from then on, still took a solid year though to clean up the mess. But the pills should be a very last resort.

"they cause hair loss, on your head"

sounds like a generalization to me, there are different medicines. doctors know what they are doing. ask if there's a possibility of hair loss with the medication.

I've heard from a lot of people that Pro-Active works miracles... I've never used it myself, but it might be something to look into.

It doesn't matter how good-looking you are, how romantic you are, how funny you are... or anything else. If she doesn't have something INVESTED in you and the relationship, preferably quite a LOT invested, she'll dump you, without even the slightest hesitation, as soon as someone a little more "interesting" comes along.

I took some pills before but they clear it up a little. Now I'm using 3 step system but not sure if it's clearing it up or preventing newier acne.

I've never heard of those pills causing hair loss. I have heard that the body builds up a tolerance to them after a while. They worked for me for about 3 months, then my body got used to it.

Pro-Active has worked far better than anything else I have tried.

You should only use accutane for the most severe cases. It can bring on side effects that are both short-term and long.

I took Roaccutane (Accutane) for four months last year. 30mg per day.

My acne cleared up almost immediately. Previous to that, I'd been to the doctors umpteen times to get prescribed bull**** topical creams that just did not work. I didn't have extremely bad acne, but I'd wake up every morning with a number of new spots on my face.

While I was on the drug, the only side effect I suffered from was the occasional nose bleed. I made sure I applied vaseline on the inside of my nose each morning which helped me stop the nosebleeds. As for long term side-effects, hmmm, difficult one. I personally don't think I suffered any. However, I often go through bouts of depression, I went through these anyways even before taking Roaccutane, but now these mood swings may be more intense. I can't tell. All I know now is that I'm pretty happy and I have a full head of hair. :D

Anyways, the dose I took was actually quite small and borderline for my weight at the time. Now my acne is coming back and I've actually booked an appointment with the doctor on friday to talk about it. I wouldn't hesitate for one second to get back onto roaccutane, simply becuase it works and gets rid of even the worst acne and personally I think alot of the bad reputation it gets is undeserved.

If you have bad acne it is your civil right to get rid of it. Don't suffer, don't hesitate, ask your doctor for Accutane/Roaccutane.

Smoke does many weird things to your pores.

I use daily something called clearasil acne control creme. Put it on once in the morning and once and night, havnt had a pimple in over 4 months. Just as a side note, I do wash my face before applying the cream, but it is worth its weight in gold for me *thumbs up*

Fvck those products. I tried everything under the sun but none of that crap worked. I am on Accutane right now, and Im proud to say after only 2 and a half months Im 98% clear, only thing Im really dealing with right now is getting the red out of my face, and its going away.

Listen I have had acne for 5 years, I know how it feels to be stuck in your room because of that ****. Get Accutane, I havent had any side effects aside from dry eyes which lead to a slight problem with vision, but Im fine. Get it, you wont regret it.

With all due respect, those websites do not really provide a strong case for avoiding Roaccutane. Birth defects only apply to WOMEN, and most of the serious sideeffects were when doctors prescribed ridiculous doses. As long as you are on a low dose (less than 80kg) then you will be fine.

I have been on it for 2-3 months and my acne is so much better. Aside from slightly cracked lips and a bit of dryness in my skin (which is easily cured by Vaseline and moisturiser) the sideeffect have been very few. But my confidence has gone through the roof as I can actually look in the mirror without feeling repulsed.

If you have less severe-moderate acne, use Benzoyl Peroxide.

Wash your face with a facial cleanser (I use Neutrogena), wait for your skin to dry/pores to close, then apply the BP cream (you can get it in varying percentages - I use 10%).

Apply it to the prone acne spots, and avoid overdoing it as it can cause minor rashes due to overdrying. Then use a moisturizer as the Facial cleansor + BP will dry out your face.

This stuff works. Ive used it over the past few months and am acne free with no breakouts except the odd one here and there, where I probably missed applying the cream.

The only time I've really broken out was when I went camping and didnt have a chance to use the cleanser/BP. The 3rd day after not using it is when I broke out.

Any other questions feel free to PM me.

10%BP works no better than 2.5%.

Acne is a hormonal problem.Period. YOu have acne because your liver and bowels can't regulate and get rid of your hormones effeciently. THey say that diet doesn't effect acne but it does indirectly with regards to toxin and hormone overloads in your organs.

A simple way to regulate hormones is to produce prostaglandins. YOu only get this by taking omega 3 from fish oils(many can't convery the chains from flax to useful forms). Anyway if you get good fish oil it will have a nutty taste like flax.

To regulate blood sugar spiking, another cause of acne(I won't get intot he whole process because it's long), take things like chromium, green tea, glucomannon, etc...

Now eat fiber to clean your bowels and make sure it has good bacteria so eat yoghurt. Also try to eat ginger and enzymes with each meal.

Next detox your liver my taking milk thistle, burdock root. No they're not some new age herbs doctors even give them to patients with hepatitis and cirrosis.

DO this and you will produce less sebum and your skin should shed properly. Use a Ph balanced soap and make sure that your skin always is slightly acidic.

Accutane fvcks up your liver like nothing else. It works becuase it overloads your body with Vit. A in doses that are controlled but still incredibly hard on your liver. PLus the cane comes back in many cases.

I agree with 10%BP and 2.5% BP making no difference, but all the dieting stuff is a little too far for me. Yes, acne is a hormonal, but all kids go through hormonal fluctuations as teens going through adolescence. There are many older people that do not have acne as they did when they were teens and don't try to regulate their hormones.

if you got acne just on your face, some benzoyl peroxide products can help you stay 90-95% clear. if you are getting cysts on your face or deep ****en pimples on your back, chest, or shoulders dont waste your time and go on accutane. i been getting those annoying deep, inflamed zits on my back and shoulders for about 8 months now, and in fall i'm planning to go on accutane to get rid of this ****.

Why does the different %'s of BP not matter? Why do they make the different concentrations if it doesnt matter? And I've used BP 5% and BP 10% with better results with the latter.

Just because a woman listens to you and acts interested in what you say doesn't mean she really is. She might just be acting polite, while silently wishing that the date would hurry up and end, or that you would go away... and never come back.
