OMG she flaked on me!!!

Okay, now that the AFC-y subject has caught your eye, here's how you handle a girl flaking on you.

I met this girl online and I was supposed to meet her for coffee tonight at 8:00 but earlier today she sends me this:

vatoloco, I would call you but I don't recall having gotten a number for you--I completely forgot that I take my friend on Monday evenings... There's a possibility she won't need me tho--If you get a chance text me: XXX/555-XXXX... I hope you get this before 8P.

I reply:

Hey XXXXX, unfortunately I made a mistake and double-booked for tonight but it's great that you e-mailed me! This actually works out better.

But don't worry, we'll make it some other time!

Now, since I'm not a douchebag, I actually didn't double-book for tonight but I'm still gonna go out (since I actually made the time in my schedule) but instead I'm gonna sarge!

Of course this is an automatic NEXT for her. I guess just because she's an HB9 she thinks I'll be like the rest of the AFCs she's probably dated. Now, if she replies, I'm gonna play with her for a little while!


But anyway, the point is that, if a girl flakes on you, you don't let it affect you!

I'm with the OP. Regardless of how physically hot she is, a truly valuable woman does not flake.

It sounds like she just forgot that she already had set plans to take a friend someplace. She made the effort to reach you to let you know BEFORE the time you were supposed to meet. That isn't "flaking", it's calling to cancel. Flaking is when they just don't show up and don't bother to call or let you know in advance that they aren't showing. There is nothing disrespectful about cancelling. Sometimes things happen and plans need to change. The fact that she actually called to cancel means that she is at least somewhat interested in you. If she weren't she would not have even bothered.

But she did. By cancelling on me a few hours before the date and NOT countering, she basically told me "Fvck off." IDK about you, but that's very disrespectful in my book. So yes, NEXT!

And this is what took me a while to come to terms with. I always used to rationalize the flaking. "Maybe she did forget about her mom's surgery on the day of our date..." :crackup:

Exactly! But most guys don't reverse the situation. I'm a busy man but I made time in my schedule last night to see this chick. Why? Because I was interested. Like I said, she was an HB9 and just my type to boot -- short (5'3") with a killer body -- which made it even tougher to maintain discipline.

I agree in this situation to bail on her. Clear low IL with the last minute cancel and no counter offer.

Something to think about is "How can I prevent girls from flaking on me in the first place?" I'm sure everyone gets flaked on from time to time, but for the guys who get this on a regular basis, it should be clear that there is a major flaw in your approach and your ability to create valid attraction in a woman regardless of getting the number or setting up a date.

Haha! I've seen her online but it's obvious that she had low IL from the get-go so why would she write back? She's probably pissed because I wasn't like the other chumps that she gets to manipulate with her [hot] looks.

I'm sure everyone gets flaked on from time to time, but for the guys who get this on a regular basis, it should be clear that there is a major flaw in your approach and your ability to create valid attraction in a woman regardless of getting the number or setting up a date.

From time to time I'll get a flake and something that I've noticed is that they're usually the HB9s and HB10s. The 6s, 7s and HB8s usually do show up but I do get the occasional flakes...

My theory (apart from the fact that they had low IL from the beginning) is that the HB9s and HB10s are damaged goods
