I wouldn't say Clearsil and Oxy pads are useless, but when I used them as a teenager they never worked for me.

Acne is usually caused by blocked pores, so your best approach is to steam your face and use an exfoliator to remove and then apply an astringent to close the pores again.

Also, at the first sign of spots, dab some toothpaste on them (not when you're going out of course!) as it helps to dry them up and reduce irritation.

An ex- girlfriend was a beauty therapist btw, so I learned a lot of good skincare advice from her.

Seems like a lot to do but I'm telling you, no more acne nor greasy head makes it worth it.
Actaully, I don't use an astringent. I am using the "acne.org" regime right now. Face wash (Noxzema), BP, and moisturizer.

You may think about using an astringent to help balance after cleaning. But all and all, I am going to stick with the Nivea for a while because it does the job. I'm also pleasantly surprised at how long the little tubes last. Only $10-20 a month to control the oil, what a bargin...

Oily skin results because of hormonal imbalances and increases the activity of sebaceous glands. Oily skin needs special cleansing with plenty of hot water n soap to prevent the pores from being clogged. Avoid harsh products that strip your skin of oil and encourage flakiness. They can cause a reaction known as reactive seborrhoea, where the oil glands work overtime to compensate for the loss of natural oils.

Try using a clay or mud mask. If you have sensitive skin, use white or rose-colored clays.

Natural skin - care for you:-

Mix in a few drops of eau de cologne. This not only helps keep oiliness away but also helps in refining the pores of the skin by acting as astringent, thereby preventing acne.

Diet for oily skin:-

* Drink plenty of quality water to keep the skin hydrated and flush out toxins.

* Reduce the amount of fat in your diet. Avoid pork and fried and highly seasoned foods. Consume no animal fats, or heat-processed vegetable oils.

* Do not drink soft drinks or alcoholic beverages. Avoid sugar, chocolate, and junk food

Common Sense Recommendations:-

* Do not smoke. Smoking promotes enlargement of the pores and impairs the overall health of the skin.

* Rub oily skin areas with apple cider vinegar for a neutralizing effect.

* Get sufficient sleep as the skin's cellular repair activity is at its optimum during this resting phase.

* Exercise benefits skin as it boosts circulation and encourages blood flow. Regular exercise will nourish and cleanse your skin from within.

Herbs for oily skin:-

* Witch hazel applied to the skin is excellent for absorbing oil.

* Aloe vera has excellent healing properties. Apply aloe vera gel topically, as needed.

Finally, my own beauty regime for keeping my facial skin oils locked ..... ;) ..... I keep a spray bottle full of cold rose water n spray on my face couple of times in the day ........ in office n home both places ........ n my skin looks good :) ............ n oil free

Gregory dear, you know the great advantage of oily skin is that it ages at a slower rate than other skin types.

Take care :)

This guy knows his stuff.. I just wanna add one thing though. You guys may be having very, very oily skin because you over wash it.

Over-washing leads to drying, and dried skin leads to oilyness because it is in our body's nature to automatically produce more oil & thus making your faces oilier.

Take it from me, i've been oily..

Oh and my solution? First of all, don't wash your face more than twice a day!

You may only wash it 2 times. Including when you shower..

Secondly, moisturize! It took me around 7-8 months and now i'm actually normal.. Lol.

Best of luck to all a ya'll take care, peace.

How the hell are toilet tissues AFC???? Not like your making out with them or something. I use them b/c my face doesn't react well to any of the things mentioned here, not about money. And it's free, why waste money when you don't have to??? Id rather have nice clothes than name-brand "oil absorbing sheets" when the TP works just as well. I think it's pretty AFC to worry about having tissues in your pocket, who cares what people think.

I had been using one by Clearasil but I bit the bullet and switched to the toner made by Proactiv. That stuff actually works!

the best thing to do is in the morning do a towel steam:

put a towel behind you, and put your face over some hot water for 5 minutes. this will steam your face, open your pores, and take out the oil :D its good stuff. i bought olive oil, but dont know how to use it.... its like a prescription kind and i dont know if i should use it for external or internal use...
