I think you guys are giving great advice, but what about the other side?
I usually dress up really nicely for work, and am always getting eye contact on the train or in public places. I'll give you an example:
I was on the train today and this HB9 was looking at me. I kept eye contact for about 5 seconds, grinned a little and looked away. When I looked back, she was still looking at me and then finally looked away. During the time I was on the train, I'd close my eyes to rest or just listen to my walkman, and when I'd look up again, she'd be looking again for a few seconds, and then she'd look away.
Now what do I do with this? This is a pretty regular occurrence for me, and I have no clue what to do. Do I approach or what? Should I smile and wait for them to say something? And in this case, she was sitting across the train (no other available seats), so how do I work out something like that?
I was always under the impression that approaching in public places such as the train would really weird out the girl (oh btw, I live in NYC). So what would you guys suggest for this?
And skater, please don't think I'm trying to steal the thread.. I think the other side is just as important, because it makes me feel like I am missing out on golden opportunities every day by just not doing anything. But then again, if they are "just looking", I don't feel like getting rejected on the train either. Please comment guys.
