Ok so I am trying to get with this girl I like. She has a car. I don't.

We're supposed to meet up soon this month. How will this affect our interactions? I mean we live in NYC so the most common and popular way of transport is the MTA/trains, but does not having a car really hurt?

Especially when she has one? (Even though its an old 2002 Nissan)

1. You live in NYC
2. Her car is old. If it was some post 2008 Benz Honda Acura or Nissan it would have been different

you have nothing to worry about

She pays more than the cost of the car every month to park it in NYC. I don't know why you would need a car to get laid there.

Having a car is overrated.

It's only a problem if you make it a problem.

I've been with girls who drove cars when at times I didn't. How did I cope?

I made them chauffeur me around...on a few occasions I borrowed cars and didn't give it back for a while.

Peace and Quiet

If you currently have too many women chasing you, calling you, harassing you, knocking on your door at 2 o'clock in the morning... then I have the simple solution for you.

Just read my free ebook 22 Rules for Massive Success With Women and do the opposite of what I recommend.

This will quickly drive all women away from you.

And you will be able to relax and to live your life in peace and quiet.

Just go out using the MTA. You don't need a car.

If she does bring it, you can either chill in the passenger seat like a boss; or tell her you want to drive because she's a woman (i.e. in a playful teasing way).

You live in NYC. The car thing is a complete non-issue.

@ Jaegar, I am only 24. She is around the same age.
@ Eagle EYes, LoveAfter2009 and handle: My main worry was that what if having a car dictates status/financial power in her views? I think I am thinking too deep but just wanting some opinions if it matter whether I have a car or not

If you live in such a commuter friendly city, then a car is not necessary. Who cares what she thinks about you not driving a car. If she is so adamant about what type of car you have, that already tells you this is gonna be trouble down the line.

Dude, if you can't have a car right now then so be it. If you aren't cool enough with who you are right now, chances are you wouldn't too even if you've gotten your hands on a car of your own. Because by then, you still don't feel enough, so you'd want a bigger car, then a tesla, you get the point.

OP, if you live in NYC, its no problem. You have the MTA and taxis. You can also pay for those monthly car membership services. You pay a small fee, and only pay a little more when you use a car. It works well for a lot of people.

Look into that.

Untrue.

Have you lived in NYC? There is room to park in all of the boros...and for free. The only time youll pay for parking is in midtown manhattan or the lower side of manhattan if you dont wanna walk far to your venue.

Parking is generally easy to find (granted, hardest in Manhattan) but outside of Midtown it is still relatively easy. The day of the week, time, and distance to your venues do play a big role however obviously.

Trying to get free parking around Columbus Circle in Midtown for example, is a nightmare.

Wow that's great to know, even though I have a car, I still live with my parents due to unable to afford living on my own

NYC is a completely different beast. I've seen people get laughed at because they had a car. You can't compare the lack of ownership of a vehicle in NYC as compared to any other place.

It really is a non-issue.
I live in New Jersey and have never driven to NYC or in NYC. It's pointless.
