I eat WAY more than 3 whole eggs a week...

They recommend 2-3 whole eggs a week because of the high cholesterol content
I eat 3 or 4 eggs a DAY. I have been for the past 15 or so years. 3 x 365 x 15 = um..burp...16,425 eggs. That's my minimum. It's probably more like 18,000. My cholesterol is fine. I'm proud of that. :D

Stay active, eat eggs.

Me and spes just love stirring the pot! :D

I'm telling you, needles are an athlete's favorite eating utensil. Gotta get their "juice" for the day you know?

raw with whey mostly. sometimes i'll have cooked eggs as part of a solid food meal but the texture makes me gag these days.. maybe once in a blue moon.

as for gains, i honestly consider raw eggs in large quantities about the closest thing you can get to natural, legal steroids.

Isn't there a risk from salmonella eating raw eggs? Something that I've always been told.
Another thing I've always been told involving eggs... you're only meant to eat 2-3 a week since you can get constipated. I prolly have about 10 a week... I'm sure if you stay well hydrated you're fine?

no constipation issues here.

yeah, there's a tiny chance you can get salmonella but even if you get an infected egg (1 in 300,000) a normal, healthy young person shouldn't get sick.

Are sport drinks really better than water? That sounds like research sponsored by the Gatorade company. Humans survived on water to drink for all of history; I imagine people were sweating back then, too.

In hell. I'm Satan's lover.
Does anyone find eating eggs raw worse than drinking EV olive oil? Because I can do the latter but I'm still working on not spasing moments after eating a raw egg... Just the way it starts to go down my throat... indecisively... like its wondering whether to stay up or go down then come back up later until I swallow hard. It's bearable though.

Re:

Model your diet after the position you would want to look like most. Linemen probably eat healthy, but at the same time, to keep that fat cushin which makes them immovable, they don't eat near as clean as any other position. Why does it always occur that SO AND SO lineman showed up overweight? Part of it is b/c he'll burn that DURING practice and preseason, so it's ok for a guy like that to show up overweight. Unlike...say...a RB...

TO has probably one of the most METICULOUS diets out there. He's rigid, but probably ingests ALOT of carbs for working out.

They look better than 99% of Americans, but not better than gym rats who seek to attain a body type with no regard for functionality. A gym rat would be better than the average american, but terribly worse than any football player conditioned for the sport. They can't be measured or compared because form follows function. In effect, the gym rat is in a very CONTROLLED environment, so their functionality is normally aesthetics. Whereas the function of a football player is ACTIVITY, they need to be healthy, but ingest sufficient density of energy. Fruit is nearly as dense as crappy food or even Gatorade. Fruit is better for the gym rat who works a desk job, not for an athlete during a game. He'd burn that piece of fruit in about 2 minutes leaving him nothing to run on.

I don't dispute that these comments are good for Football players and VERY active people, but for the average gym rat seeking a good body, it wouldn't be commesurate. Excessive carbs for the gym rat/office jobber would lead to fat and muscle gain. Moderate carbs, enough to fuel weight workouts, would be good for muscle gain and fat control. Whereas a lack of carbs would defuel workouts and stagnate strength gains.

I dare say there's 1 who is as active as a Professional Football player is year round, to where they could eat similarly, except maybe a Marathon runner, who wouldn't consume near the diet a Pro Football player would either. Horrible weather. Difficult, energy intensive practices. Plus, they're being hit, so some fat padding is necessary to protect vital organs, on top of strong muscles.

Don't know why you'd put yourself through that. Eat raw eggs by blending them with whey. After they go through a blender theres no more egg texture.

Yes and no. There are times when sports drinks come in handy, and times when there is no difference in whether you take in water or the sports drink. This is the result of time for an activity.

Water With Moderate Exercise

For a 20-30 min exercise, water is enough

1 cup of water 30 min before and 1 cup immediately after

For short exercise don’t need the excess calories in a sports drink, or

need to replace minerals (normal diet will suffice)

Sports Drinks

Designed for longer, harder events

Studies show that after long bouts of exercise or hard work, sports drinks rehydrate faster and more thoroughly than water alone

Water shuts down the thirst mechanism (most people stop at 68% rehydrated) and stimulates production of urine

Minerals in sports drinks (Na) prolong thirst to keep you drinking and inhibit urine production (people tend to stop at 82% rehydrated)

How so? People didn't always have this Powerade,Gatorade, Protein Drinks and such. I've drank water and fat free milk for 6+ months straight and I'm fine. Somedays I didn't have milk and just drank water and I was o.k.

True, long ago there was no such thing, but as science has advanced, and research has been done, there are now ways of testing things like this. Right amount of carbs, electrolyte balance, etc.

We know so much more than we did that many years ago, and can test performance. Sure, did they get by? Yes, but could they have made things better? Probably so.

Its like hearing people say... I'm ok, when they are dehydrated. Just a 1-2% dehydration can hamper physical performance about 5%.

It would be nice to have this computer inside our brain like cars have. Uh oh... oil is low, gas is low, etc etc. WARNING.... Hydration level is below normal, or electrolyte levels are low, or protein levels are low. Prob not going to happen, but that's all it is. Its knowing more now than we did.

During exercise, athletes lose large amounts of electrolytes and burn many calories that water alone will not replenish
