They have figured out some pretty amazing carbon dioxide sequestering methods but they need to be able to produce them at scale.

That's the issue...the methods are highly effective but they don't operate at a global scale.

Anything is possible with renewable energy - stuff "at scale" succeeds when the energy is super cheap (and doesn't cost carbon to make). As the renewables (mainly wind & solar) build out, and excess production can be shunted to such sequestration (e.g., when the wind is blowing at night, and when the sun is high at high noon, etc.), making use of the "duck dilemma".
