a new law coming in this saturday states that having pictures of females on the wall in the work place is now a form of sexual harrasment,
what are your views on this?

are females taking it all to far,, after all i garage where the work force is 100% male having a few posters up on the wall is only normal,,
or does this thing scare females to the point where they would need this type of law

-Some crazy bi tch

In almost all sectors you have customers walking through the place from time to time. I work in a machine shop with 30 guys (no woman) and guys who want to have that stuff around place it on their toolbox cover or in secluded areas where it won't be so obvius when the customers come (even tho 98% of our customers are men) If the place doesn't have any women in it, or going through it do you think people would actually folow the law (NOPE)

it is a stupid law (to a point). Some people (who have no respect for women) would put the pictures and calendars all over the place (no metter what kind of buisness it is).

You know nothing about the EU, obviously...

Edit: Anyone got a link to news stories or the text of this? I'm curious.

And there is no such thing as an EU "law" in the strictest sense either.

How does the EU enforce laws?

And what about the new EU countries, does this law apply to them as well? Because I don't think many Polish or Maltese will care.

Hey, stand-peeing is not allowed here and will be punished with fines, so if you don't want any trouble, you'd best sit down,"

What kind of pictures are they? I'll have to go do some searching and see if I can find a link about the law. Honestly...if you're going to make posts about things like this you should really include a link about it.

If I went into any business and saw porno posters of women all over the place I'd likely take my business elsewhere. I have this philosophy about places that don't even attempt to appear professional...they most likely aren't. If they plaster those kinds of posters all over the wall of their business I'm going to view them as a business that would likely assume that I would be an easy target to rip off just for being female. Also, if the business is THAT preoccupied with looking at porn then I'd be a bit concerned about how much of my "labor" charge was spent ogling naked women on the wall rather than working on my vehicle.

I'm not saying that view would be accurate...just that it would be my first impression.

make's sense.
i used to work in a garage some time ago,, on the back wall that was out of view to the general puplic(unless they walked right to the back of the garage) was covered in calanders.
funny thing is no one ever realy looked at them,, and the page's from month to month where never changed,, was just a collection of free calanders that you get once a year in the news paper that had buildt up over many years.
and all the staff where very professinal. they where more interested in making money than looking at that wall.

i think it goes both way's. some times it may be an insucure women that walks into a garage, see's these pictures hanging about,, gets the first inpression you had but takes it a lot futher in her mind.

and other times the garage my be full of middle aged men with no love life and are all in desperate need of sex, surrounded by pictures day in day out and just see females as objects etc,

but to see the pictures them selves as harrasment,, i think is a step to far

the funny thing is,,there is no law or concern about the news papers that sell these posters , or have a daily slot in the paper for pictures of half naked females, but then again they are not in your face,,whats next tho? a form of sexual harrasment for a women to walk in a shop and see porn mags on the top shelf,, because there is a man stood behind the shop counter

john...I would guess that the law, as it relates to sexual harassment is likely more geared towards places where there are women employed.

Would you feel comfortable in a job where there were pictures of naked men everywhere? Or worse yet, pictures of two naked men touching each other?

I'm guessing you'd probably find it kinda offensive.

I don't think it's really about insecurity as it is a case of women not viewing those pictures as something they really want to see all around them.

I'm not insecure at all, but I wouldn't want to work someplace where there were pictures that kinda grossed me out all over the wall, either.

Women don't find pictures of other women naked and posed in a sexual way to be appealing. The best way for you to understand why it bothers a lot of women is to imagine those same kind of pictures with men instead and what you'd think about it.
