Need tips on procrastination and school

aight guys, my attitude towards school is quite fuked. Since i got into high school I didnt have any motivation to work hard, can anoyone explain that? i know i can do really well and just have a good attitude towards, hell i want to feel like so impatient to get home and do my work. but i just dont! I JUST CANT DO IT!!

another thing is i'm sure most of you know that i've been here for quite a while now ( sosuave) and that i havent improved much but thats plainly because i have procrastinated for sooooooo long. i dunno, i've lost the interest and excitement that i had when i first got here and now i just dont feel inspired to work... what can i do to inspire myself and constantly motivate myself?

I used to have that problem real bad, and still do to some extent. One thing you can do is to use the things you want to do as a reward for finishing homework. For example, don't let yourself watch TV or hang out until you finish a certain amount of hw. You can even ask your parents or someone to help enforce this if you can't yourself.

Another thing is to start out with the hw that you dislike the least, or is easiest for you. Once you get this done, it's easier to move on to something else.

It sounds to me like you might have a small case of ADHD. I have it, and I take concerta which helps me concentrate a hell of a lot better. Don't think its too wierd, its more common than you might think...

No, ADHD is *LESS* common than you think.....
EVERYONE has trouble concentrating. Lots of people like to blame it on add because they don't understand why thye can't concentrate or how to do it, but it's simply human nature.

Dude dont worry about it. I skipped so much class in 10th and 11th grade and even got kicked out of school. But heres the kicker, i still graduated with my class and got my highschool diploma.

How did you get kicked out? What did they say to you to kick you out? How did you still graduate?

true enough. A friend of mine, who graduated from cornell told me, "Once you graduate, its kinda wierd. You're like, 'what the hell do i do now?'"

College is good for most of us, but for other people it might just be a waste of 4-6 years, especially if you have something going on your own already.

Player, you need to be harder on yourself, plain and simple. You lack self-discipline. I came to that conclusion based on 2 facts 1) You stated your problem and 2) You seem to be trying to blame it on some "mystery problem". You are the only common denominator with problems like this and the only thing you can do is force yourself to work harder. When you try to do this, you will probably find yourself trying to think of excuses not to do it quite often, but you have to consciously watch out for that and catch yourself whenever you do that. You can try just waiting it out or whatever, but man, the only way you're gonna overcome it is by forcing yourself to take action whenever you find yourself not wanting to, you'll gradually adapt to it and get to normal.

dude chicks are important, but school has to come first. Just remember this: If you work hard in school and go to college, you will get a kick ass job and chix will be all over you. If you just get chicks now, and dont do well in school, you will be 25 and not-so-successful. School comes first man.

Maybe this is just me, but I'd get a job. Good thing I chose Wash U over Cornell .

Okay, just remember, school comes first. Although, I didn't try to hard in high school, either. You can get by. Colleges (for the most part) only care that you have the money to get in.

As for the part about learning everything on here, I do have a little piece of advice. I know this is going to sound weird, but here it goes: don't masturbate. Don't give yourself the pleasure and pretty soon, you'll dive in here looking for advice on how to get the girls.

take your mind off of women and other stupid sh*t and take a lot's of notes during class and it WILL F*CKING HELP!! I have a little attention problem as well, but once I take the necessary notes, I'm fine. And if it doesn't help, then you aren't the taking the necessary notes. Read your notes carefully, don't just write sh*t down. And when you hear sh*t with adjectives or a little exaggeration eg;"George Washington was the FIRST president" "The LARGEST land mass in the world is ANTARCTICA" WRITE THAT DOWN!!

There's abosolutely no excuse for procrastination! It all starts with engraving such a statement in your mind. That's why sometimes us as AFCs fail with women as well. We procrastinate, we beat around the bush, we hesitate, we act foolish. There's no room for laziness!!!!

I don't care what the f*ck your excuse is, wheter you got ADD, ADHD, or AIDS, if your have a f*cking brain, no right from wrong and ain't riding the midget bus to school with the other "special" kids then there AIN'T NO EXCUSE for such poor habits.

i recommend getting a job where you sit around a lot of the time and are alone...

i.e- GNC, receptionist, crappy store with little customers etc

there you will have no distractions (other than the little work you have to do) and you can bring your books, notes, etc to study while you are doing nothing

also, take all distractions out of your life, ie- you watch TV all day? you post on the interenet?

move the tv out of your room, and move the computer to your parents room, or something, and dont let yourself use these things until you finish HW... and do HW as soon as you come home from school...

or stay at school when school lets out and do your HW in the library

or make yourself go somewhere to study... SOMEHWERE WITH NO DISTRACTIONS
