Two of my female housemates are demanding that I pay more money for rent. I think the rent im paying is fine, so im gonna talk to them later tonight. Im really bad at dealing with people this way, especially since I don't really know them that well. I can also tell they don't like me cuz of the cold shoulder they've been giving me for the last few days. Whatever advice I can get would be greatly appreciated.

Here's some background info.
So one of my friends agree'd that I could sublease from his place over the summer. He lives in a room with 3 other girl housemates. When I got there, his room was really small. The living room had a small desk (out of the way in a corner) so I set up my computer there. The couch had a roll out bed, so thats where I sleep.

Now here's my problem. My friend tells me that the girls say that since i'm practically living in the living room, I should pay more rent. Me and my friend say that since I dont' really have my own room and have no privacy, the rent im paying should be fine.

Im gonna talk to them at 10. I predict they are gonna be really tough about it, and im nervious. Any advice?

I hate the idea of house-mates. :trouble: They're seldom worth the money you save from not having your own place, too much drama. :woo:

I think that he should man it out. Living with two hostile female roommates could do wonders for him socially. I would try to own them.

forgot to mention that I am moving at fall, this is only a summer arrangement.
Anyways, I talked to her.

Half way though the discussion, she convinced that sleeping on the living room couch was annoying to her cuz they gotta keep quiet and stuff in the morning, and they cant use the living room in the morning. However, I stood my ground alittle longer after that for the reason I still wanted to keep my computer on the living (if I seemed to fold that easily to the couch, she would be more demanding of my computer).

So after I agree'd to sleep in my roomates cramped single, she tried to convince me to move my computer too. She told that since Im always in the living room, no one else could use it and practically my room. I told her that im not kicking anyone out of the livingroom, anyone is welcome to use the living room, Im just taking one space on the couch. She also told Im in there 24/7, then I told her that Im outta the house doing stuff most of the day. Then she also implied that uncomfortable sitting on the couch when Im there.
But she didn't get too much into that before she agree'd I could have my computer on the couch.

I wish I kept me cool more. She put me on the spot a few times, and I felt like I had to struggle a few times to make my point. Overall Im happy with how I performed and the compromise.

EDIT:

Forgot to mention this, but when we're comprimising about the computer thing, she mentioned that
she might bring this up again if im in the living room too much. She sorta backed off then I told her that the living room is for living, and that im gone everday from 10am-5pm and again from 7-10. But that might be cuz she was just glad I agree's to sleep in my friends room. I have a feeling that she might bring it up again though. I'll let you know how it goes down.
