I was impressed by all the advice you gave skinnydart, so thought I would submit myself to the comments and advice of you guys.

You can probably improve by growing your hair out longer...maybe even highlighting it with lighter shades of blonde in some places...but for the most part grow your hair out and get it cut by a good hairdresser.

Thanks ixnys. My hair doesn't behave very well as it goes all sort of wavy when I grow it long. But I have been wanting to grow it long for a long time, so will do that.

Do you like or feel comfortable wearing suit and such?

If not maybe you should read on men's magazines like GQ, save some money and purchase a nice suit set up.

What I personally imitate is what Cary Grant wears in his movies. He looks comfortable in his manly clothes and sends out a confident look.

Also get a haircut.

Yeah Aztec. I like wearing smart clothes, but feel a bit self conscious about it as I am at uni where everyone wears T-shirts and jeans-and asks me why I am dressed so smartly whenever I am dressed up.

Yeah, definitely need a haircut, will book one next week.

Getting a haircut might be a good idea. If it fits to your new haircut you might want to try a goatie (?).
Maybe darker colors look better on you (?).

Take care!

don't think you need to change that much. either grow the hair longer or trim it down very short, preferably with a beard roughly the same size.

I'd go for the longer myself if I looked like you.

edit: christ, no goatie unless you're dying the hair dark (and keeping beard dark is weekly work).

So do you reckon I should go for a beard. I have tried in the past and it turns out the same sort of gold colour as my hair.

Can't pull off short hair as my ears stick out a little.

I don't see anything drastic that needs improving. Keep bulking, exercising your shoulders, traps and neck and you should fill out and look better for it.

Otherwise, a modern haircut and clothes would make a positive difference. Take a look through some fashion catalogues and get some ideas from the models.

Without trying to sound gay, what do you guys reckon of my looks? I reckon I am pretty average looking-around a 5 or so. At least that is what I got when i put my photo up at hotornot.

I have booked a hairdresser for Tuesday so that should make a difference.

I can't really afford designer clothes, but will try and upgrade my clothing and dress more fashionably.

You essentially upped your VALUE in her eyes by showing her that, if she wants you, she has to at times do things that you like to do. You are SOMETHING after all. You are NOT FREE. If she wants to hang with you, it's going to cost her something — time, effort, money.

Do something different with your hair, put some clay or fiber in it.

Clothing wise; check this site:

http://www.w1style.co.uk/uk_energie.asp

My favourite brand is by far energie, I've got energy sweaters from 5 years back that still look fashionable and trendy. I just love energie!

Diesel [stylelab], firetrap, g-star, are among some other quality brands.

Brands like o'neil, ralph lauren, quicksilver etc, singal you have no personal style and buy whatever everybody else is wearing. Girls notice when you have some class.

Don't buy and wear what other people wear, walk into a fashionable store and buy whatever you like, even if it's purple, pink or crazy fluor-white stripes, whatever suits your taste and style.

Without sounding gay in response, you are a good looking bloke.

If you have a strong and unique personality, dress like it. Most people I know would be considered way more attractive if they let themselves be themselves and dressed to express this. You should go shopping and look for things that look like you in clothing form ("That's me in shoe form!"). It sounds stupid, but it works wonders for your congruence. Since you know yourself better than anyone, you're the best person to decide how to dress, but it doesn't hurt to bring someone along.

Thanks, johnny that made my day.

As far as hair goes do you think I could go for a sort of surfer dude look. My hair is naturally quite wavy and untidy and it is more or less impossible to straighten, so i thought perhaps if i grew it long and bleached it or streaked it to give it a sunkissed look it might work. Sort of Owen Wilson style?

naoi, good point. I suppose I toy between going for an athletic/sporty look-as I have the build and sort of outdoor look-I am quite weatherbeaten and ruddy complexioned. But my personality is quite preppy/posh as I am well-spoken and quite sophisticated-so i could pull off the sort of smart flannels/blazers/shirts/polo shirts sort of look.

Knight that is a cool site, but I am not sure the sort of skateboarder/snow boarder sort of look suits me.

Ignore the hot or not rankings, as they mean nothing. You're definitely above average and the right image could set you way above average.

Forget the designer clothes as you can create good and unique styles without spending a fortune. I recall Soma writing some good tips on this somewhere. Or if you get chance, ask for a female opinion.

Way above average definitely sounds good Jariel. That is why I wanted some advice on a makeover, as at the moment I don't really pay a lot of attention to what I wear and my appearance: I have had the same haircut since I was 12, and I tend to wear sort of smart casual-flannels, button down shirts, jumpers, T-shirts and jeans.

Unfortunately none of my female friends have fashion sense, but I have outgrown a lot of my old clothes following successful bulking in the past and with january sales i am looking to get a new wardrobe for the new year. Will check out soma's thread.
I have basically no fashion sense myself and as i said am not inclned to spend a fortune on designer clothes when i am likely to outgrow them in a year or so.

In your place I would try the messy hair look with a cool haircut using wax and growing a goatee.

Suits to me really good.

Grow the hair longer, grow the hair longer!

I say that because of the type of your hair.

By the way, I don't know why you're so worried with your appearance! Just let your hair grow, that's the thing I think you have to change, the rest is inner game!

I had a friend that was amazing with fashion sense (he was not gay BTW). I wish I could have this skill. As I don't see him anymore at least I ask my sister to give me some help with "fashioned" clothing!

This is my suggestion as well. My hair is quite identical to yours, wavy.

You're hair will get to a length where it gets to be a total pain in the ass (usually when it reaches around ear length). I cut it once because of this phase. The next round I just forced myself to bear with it and let it grow longer. Once it gets to be about shoulder length, it will start looking better. Once it gets past, it will start looking good. The weight of your hair will keep it a bit more straight but it will have a cool looking wave to it.
