Mystery and The Pickup Artist

I've heard a lot about this Mystery guy so I've recently started watching episodes of The Pickup Artist. You can view them online for free on the VH1 website. Here are my impressions:

1) You can see that this guy was a magician, a performer. He seems so locked into doing his routines. In his mindset, attracting a girl is a "trick" that he performs, and he can do it over and over. They showed a little bit of footage of him and his wingmen operating in a club, and he seemed to get a lot of mileage out of "You can dress her up but you can't take her anywhere" (a neg) and "You can do that if you buy me a drink first" (DHV, I guess). They seemed to use those repeatedly.

2) The dude is tall. Women definitely are attracted to tall guys, there is no question about it. Being able to tower over your target plus the other guys around gives you a big advantage as far having a presence. Height is an issue with me in that I like the girls to be shorter. I'm average height and I like to be at least a few inches taller than the girl I'm with. I wouldn't like the 6 foot model type.

if all these techniques work with woman and this is how it is done, why are men having even more trouble now than ever. because the men are are ****s are ****in it up. woman dont like really tall guys they like a guy that is regular height so they can put their arms up around their shoulders.

Height really isn't that big of a factor (no pun intended). It may prevent you from getting with a few women, but you have to keep in mind that there are lots of women shorter than you too. There are also plenty of women willing to date a man who is a little shorter than they are, despite how they claim that they "never" date shorter men. My father is two inches shorter than my mom for example.

Self beleif is the key here, Mystery, is not a magician, he had the desire to learn how to do this, through trial and error, it has become routine now.

Seducing beautiful woman is easy when you are doing it successfully on a regular basis, like every other thing that a person has mastered in their life.

Positive thinking = Self beleif + Self beleif = Success, it couldn't be any more simplistic.

Remember without Action nothing ever eventuates.

That's right, I was referring to the fact that Mystery LITERALLY was a magician before he became a pickup artist. You can see this in the way he tries to attract women. He has memorized routines that he runs repeatedly, with the exact same wording. It's all a TRICK to him, an act, a performance, to get a certain result.

One scene I thought was interesting. He had a girl grinding on him, and then he shoved her off and said "Okay, get off me now". The old push-pull.

Have you seen the episodes where they try to pick up women in the daytime, in real life? They fail utterly miserably.

No, I haven't seen that one yet. I'll look forward to it. Most of those guys on that show are pretty awkward and pathetic. One thing that struck me about Mystery's methods was that they seem specifically tailored to work in a club scene. I'm not sure they would be so effective for day game, at least not without some tweaking.

It's too bad they kick the inept ones off as they go, because they really could have used the help.

Rolling Stone followed Mystery for a night to test his "best pua in the world" idea. The result was 5 make outs with a victoria secret model, a legit actress (unnamed), and 3 girls that were hotter than those two. Mystery is legit.

I get random makeouts as well so I'm not really impressed. Remember, looks are relative. My point is that if you put any decent PUA in a venue stocked with high quality women then the odds of some of them being into you are decent. If he made out with the only 5 10's in the venue, then I'd be impressed. As it stands, that's not how it went down. Similarly think of the inverse: If I hooked up with the 5 hottest chicks in a club in small town Michigan that would sound great, but then went home with 5 average or so-so girls from LA, that would sound bad or pretty lame. Here's the part where looks are relative: the LA so-so girls were a notch or two in looks & status above the Michigan girls. Does banging 5 decent LA girls still worse?

Anyway, he's got game, no question. But lets be real here, the way that test was set up he was going to win no matter what. Hell, put any decent pua in a place as described and they'll look like a stud.

I saw infield footage of a girl going bonkers who recongized him from his show she kept saying "oh my gosh I love you" and his dumbass was trying to qualify("I really need you to be different blah blah" or some crap) her when she was primed to be banged it just looked odd

It's more of a reality show/contest where Mystery tries to instruct a bunch of nerds to be pickup artists, with the winner winning $50,000 and the meaningless "Master Pickup Artist" title. I thought it was worth watching since a lot of people not otherwise involved in the seduction community are aware of it.

And keep in mind that your hero worship serves little use in the real world. The fact of the matter is men and women have been having sex for eons, all without the help of guys like Mystery. While he made great strides and creating a system, the system is not complete. Nor did he really invent anything. He merely studied human interactions and learned to recognize the broad strokes and how to follow the natural pattern/steps people go through when in the early stages of a relationship.

It's almost like he puts a girl through several weeks worth of emotions all in one night. Like he takes weeks of a relationship and condenses it down into one interaction that he controls.

Just read his archives on mASF. I used to have a job where not much would be going on for an hour or so a day, so I read his archives on the clock. I don't see how anyone could deny the fact that he's creative. However, these rigid structures he has created probably hurt more than they help.

I have seen borderline Mystery impersonators have some success, but I've seen many times more that just became more stifled and uptight than they were to begin with. They believed so deeply that Mystery would lead them to the light that they began doing things that made no sense, were highly weird, and even though they knew it was weird their blind faith kept them repeating the same patterns (and getting the same bad results) over and over again. Is that Mystery's fault? Not really as I remember him seeding not to be a copycat into every for-pay product he created, but people need to understand that blind conformity will never replace the need to be an actual person with one's own personality, ideas, and actions. Mystery also tends to make things seem much more difficult than they actually are. Perhaps, it is not in his best interest to have people thinking they don't need products to bag a bunch of women.

Having said all that, I think one day he will come out admitting his many antics such as seeding clubs, under the premise of "look what a great illusionist I am, I made you guys think 100% of this was real".
