I hate the fact that at age 19 I still deal with the occasional voice crack. Its not a high pitched squeak or anything but just a sudden shift to a higher pitch. Its embarrasses myself even though people may or may not notice it. I do deal with nasal allergies so I am wondering if a saline treatment (nasal irrigation with salt water) may be a solution. Speech disorder? Ongoing puberty? Let me have some input on this...thanks

Simple enough, it's a puberty thing and some people stop puberty later than others. When I was your age, I had the same problem; the cracks would come occasionally at such a late age; except without the allergies. Most notably, the problem stopped without my doing anything. You could always ask a doctor, and that is somewhat advisable given we're not board certified doctors, but I doubt their response will be different.

Moved to H&F...

How often does it happen? Every day? Multiple times per day?

What are the environments it happens in? Are you nervous? Stressed?

How long has it been since you've spoken last? Seconds? Minutes? Hours?

The more information you provide the more we can help.

Sometimes I can go weeks w/o cracking and then for a week straight my voice may crack at least once every day. It seems to get worse whenever my allergies act up, since I seem to produce a lot more mucous. Nervousness can exacerbate it as well. I have also noticed a trend from me not masturbating to a less likelihood of not cracking, maybe from increased testosterone, but that is a very long shot of being the real reason.

Men frequently err by talking too much. They often monopolize conversations, droning on and on about topics that bore women to tears. They think they're impressing the women when, in reality, they're depressing the women.

Can you remember how you were speaking when this happened?

Were you talking quickly?
Were you saying too much in one breath?
Were you moving your pitch up and down to: indicate a question or a tangent, emphasize certain words, or to express a mood?
Were you being sarcastic, diplomatic, saying something controversial, or doing anything else that might cause you to intentionally soften or heighten your voice, eventually accidentally pushing it beyond it's natural range?

I'm 22 - so puberty's been over for a long time - but sometimes my voice will seem to crack when I do these things.

yeah sometimes i tend to talk fast, and try to put as many words as i can in one breath, so that very well be the reason im cracking
