Most of the girls I date have never played golf. So when I say we'll hit the course on our first date, they say "that sounds like so much fun". It's a cheap date ($10 for a bucket of balls and I have clubs), plus I get to feel them up since they don't know what they're doing and need instruction.
I used to do dinner and drinks, and boy that was a waste of time and money. You set yourself up to get friendzoned because she'll start to think of you as a meal ticket. Golf is more active and playful and the conversation is natural. If you help her sink a chip or a putt, she'll think you're a God lol. I did this with my last gf.
You don't have to be a pro - just take some lessons and learn how to drive the ball at least 150 yards or so. I'm starting to think that dates during the day are way better in terms of the interaction. Nighttime dates, in my experiences, get a little bit tricky unless she's already your girl.
