This situation can be extremely challenging. Whether you should talk to this man or not would depend on the man. Even though he is confident and successful, the reality is that he is as human as the rest of us. 14 years isn't easy to let go and give up on, and it would appear that he was seriously committed the entire marriage. He may not be receptive at all to anything you have to say. It may take some time for the emotional sting to wear off before he will be open to any advice along the lines of not falling into the trap of practically begging.
