I think we can agree that listening to music influences our character a bit. What we listen to is usually reflected by who we are, what our personality is like, etc. While we might know it or not, we'll change bit by bit by the lyrics.

So I'll make this simple: stop listening to love songs. I've just recently heard "Sorry I'll take the Blame" by Akon; it must be the most wussiest song I've ever listened to. He takes the blame for everything his girl has done that he hasn't done. What's going to happen when you're constantly blowing that crap in your ears?

Listening to love songs will turn you into a needy wuss, and it might be the single most reason why there are still betas running around in this world aside from the introduction of Romeo and Juliet, which IMO brew the era of wusses. Overtime when you listen to enough of it, you'll feel like something is missing within you, which creates that neediness.

Good advice, but most music right now is ****ty like that. Over here, the TV music stations suck baaaad, they play Fallout Boy and the next *****cat dolls half the day  It's getting harder and harder to find some GOOD music. (aka Led Zeppelin and the guys from the era ;))

Everywhere you want to be.... I'm like a Visa card
I believe there is a grain of truth in this idea. But I think it would only effect you after listening to many sappy songs in a row for a decent length of time, and even then, you'd only have that mellow, needy feeling for an hour at the most. And it will also vary from person to person.

Real point of thread: Don't listen to sappy love songs right before going out sarging or something. Otherwise, your musical tastes are yours to decide.

It's a proven study. Have you ever seen an emo person before emo music started erupting?

Great point there. It's actually a study my friend was doing for his senior project on how music influences us, and love songs usually fall into the pop and R&B category. No one listens to pop anymore, and if you're into R&B, you most likely are into rap, and all they talk about is getting hoes and being rich. If you're not listening to it in succession you'll see hardly any effects.

Oh really?

You ever wondered what an epic movie would be like without music?

Go watch Transformers or 300 or something and imagine it without any music. All those epic battle scenes, moments when the bad guys have their speech that they're going to win, etc.

Music makes up 70% of a movies mood. You can watch a clip of people getting shot and have a violin playing in the background. Or you could imagine the same clip but this time with wacky saxophones playing ragtime. Or Metallica could be playing. They all make you feel differently about what's going on. One makes you sad, one makes you laugh, one makes you feel like dominating everything.

I have a challenge for you. I ask you to listen only, ONLY, to break up songs for an entire month (that's nothing considering some people listen to them for YEARS).

This tip is awesome. I can vouch for this first hand. I didn't even notice how I used to listen to so many sad/break-up songs up until a year ago. I wasn't even crazy about the songs, it's just that I had this...ritual of feeling bad for myself (which I never used to do before I started dating). And I did this via sad music that depicted a scene of "poor me, I hope it gets better one day...". Thank God I don't do that anymore. Thank God I got over it. Because since then I've become a much more outgoing person. Cheers to the OP!

Very true. Music effects our mood tremendously. Jon55 knows his ****. I try not to listen to sappy stuff too much. When I get depressed I usually put on some rap music or hip-hop, that usually boosts my ego a bit.

On a side note. Anybody have any song recommendations that boost your mood/give off a DJ vibe?

Theres a reason why emo kids are emo. and why Gangsters listen to rap.

There are people who live their music, and ther eare others like myself, who listen to everything purely for enjoyment

If you want to stay ignorant the rest of your life, you can not take this advice.

billy jean is not my lover
she just a girl who claims that i am the one
BUT the kid is not my son , she says im am the one but the kid is not my son

haha sorry got the ipod going, as for todays music...............

IT BLOWS thats why I have my Ipod. And R&B isn't that bad you have to find the select few that work. I only listen to certain kinds of music throughout the day. When I work out its usually Alternative or Rock. Then I'll put DJ Tiesto on for cardio. The only time I listen to R&B is when I'm out with a female. ESPECIALLY AKON. I only have a couple of his songs but HB's love that sh*t.
